I'm not sure how I feel about the song itself, but I love the animated sequence. Lots of references to actual episodes of the old series, which makes me wonder if they're just references (like the The Adventures of Tintin sequence) or if those stories will be adapted.

I also expected Lin-Manuel Miranda to sing the song, so that was a bit surprising. Odd the description page doesn't identify the singer.

Nice to see that Mrs. Beakley seems to have a more active role.

I love how they worked those comic panel designs into that intro. At least some acknowledgement of where Ducktales actually has its roots.

I had a good friend growing up who got the Disney Adventures magazine. There was always some great comics in that magazine.

Random nostalgia.

The series itself is drawn in a much more comic booky style than the original, and this time Donald actually gets to go along on the adventures just like the comics.

Thank you for posting that! I saw the other version and thought not only did the sound mix come off poorly, but the singer sounded somewhat muted, emotionally. This version fixes all of that and makes me excited for August and September!

I guess the new theme is okay, but I miss the horn part from the original, which is missing until the final bars and understated then.

And I was never a huge fan of the theme song. What I loved most about the show was Ron Jones's fantastic orchestral underscores. Apparently the new show is scored by someone named Dominic Lewis, whose work I'm not familiar with. I would've been much happier if they'd been able to get Jones back.

Former American Idol contestant Felicia Barton, no idea about her other work but it works for me here. I like the whole title sequence.
Ah, thank you. Did you recognize her voice or did you read about it somewhere?

Wow, you're right, that is a significant difference. I like the song better now.

That was just...terrible. The animation was very sterile. It looked very CGI, and extremely flat (looks like construction paper-flat). When I think of the original, even hand-drawn and painted the original still managed to get some depth to the pictures. The 80's Ducktales didn't feel flat, even though it was a 2-D drawing.
Exactly. It felt more life like, cartoon wise.

Carl Barks was my favourite artist of the Uncle Scrooge/Donald Duck Adventures comic books I read as a kid, I would only buy comics featuring his artwork and read the others in the book store but not buy them. :ouch:

I loved that the 1987 series style was based on his art, but they did hundreds of episodes and it makes sense to draw inspiration from one of the other artists for an animated series made 30 years later.

I hope this new series remakes some of my favourite stories from the 1987 show like "Armstrong" and "Robot Robbers"

Hopefully this new series will give Disney the motivation to finish releasing the 80's series (and Darkwing Duck!) on DVD, or even start over and remaster the 80's series from the original film, rather than the low quality masters that they were using 10 years ago for the 3 volume releases (that featured some episodes that looked like they had been sourced from VHS copies upto 3/4 U-Matic, but the quality was all over).

I'm hoping it leads to a La-La Land Records box set of Ron Jones's complete musical score to the original show.

Just a little off-topic, but I just found out that for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One the "Disney Afternoon Collection" that features the 6 NES DA games that Capcom released in the late 1980's/early 1990's (DuckTales 1&2, Chip 'N' Dale Recue Rangers 1&2, Darkwing Duck & Talespin). No Nintendo 3DS or Switch or even Physical releases have been announced yet (but the developer hasn't ruled them out yet, as the digital versions only came out last month or April). But the games are in their original 8-bit forms.

And then there was the "DuckTales Remastered" game from a few years ago.

Hm, I wonder who'll play Darkwing. Aside from Tony Anselmo as Donald, they aren't reusing any of the original cast, so it seems unlikely they'd bring back Jim Cummings. Although he's still active, so they certainly could.

I'm probably in the minority but I never got into Darkwing Duck. I was strictly a DuckTales kid. That being said, I'm happy for everyone else who are fans.

I was never that huge a fan of Disney in general, but those were two of their better shows. I did prefer DuckTales, though, largely for its music, animation, and voice work. Darkwing wasn't quite as good, and it bugged me a bit that it was blatantly Disney's attempt to copy Chuck Jones's Daffy Duck-as-inept-hero cartoons (e.g. Duck Dodgers, Stupor Duck, The Scarlet Pumpernickel, etc.) and the Jones/Tex Avery style of cartoon humor in general. Having always preferred Warner Bros. to Disney, I looked rather askance at the imitation.

As someone who read a lot of the Italian comics as a kid I preferred Donald Duck's superhero alterego Super Duck, but in hindsight I suppose that was kind of lame too.

I loved Darkwing Duck. It was an expansion of the universe started in DuckTales and it was fun. So that's great!!
