DuckTales reboot coming to Disney XD in 2017

It looks great, can't wait to see it. I like that the nephews are getting distinct personalities and Webby has a personality that isn't just "the girl".

Hmm, it's in a modern style that looks comparatively crude to me. The original was frequently animated by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, easily the best animation studio of '90s TV (they also did the best-made Batman: TAS and Superman: TAS episodes, and of course they made Akira), so it was often quite beautifully done. This new style is very different and it'll take some getting used to. It's also a much greater departure from Carl Barks's art style, for those who care about such things.

Donald Duck being a central character is a major turn-off for me. I hate Donald Duck. I was glad that the original mostly avoided him and featured Launchpad in his place.
Are we looking at the same thing? It looks pretty good for backgrounds and such, but the characters look like something I would draw when I'm drunk.
To each their own. I like the simplistic style. Either way, it's a nice contrast that stands out uniquely from the previous series.

I wouldn't say "uniquely," because it seems to me to be stylistically quite similar to what I've glimpsed of a number of other modern animated shows on cable. The style of dialogue and humor also seems of a piece with other current and recent animated shows. It's certainly a modernized take. Which is good if the goal is to appeal to a new generation of young viewers, but it's something that nostalgic fans of the original might need some time to adjust to.

I dunno, it's not like I was ever a huge fan of the original DuckTales, although I liked it better than the other Disney Afternoon comedies. But the main thing I was a fan of was Ron Jones's music. If they bring him back to score the new series, then I'll be interested for sure. But I'd be surprised if they did.

Gravity Falls was one of the most beautiful shows with lushness. This is very minimum and comic bookish meets video games. I really can't get over the funny shaped heads of the young ducks.

I have mixed feelings about it. I really love the original show. This has a very different look and I'm not sure I like the animation style. That doesn't mean I won't watch it and give it a chance. The duck characters are my Disney favorites, including Donald. I just hope Disney decides to release the last season of the original show on DVD!

Well it was originally a comic book...

I guess I don't watch enough animated shows because it feels unique to me.

I had never really watched all of the classic Duck Tales cartoon and thinking of doing that. I have only watched some when I was young when it was on air.

Old series pillaged and plagiarized classic Barks stories and the new one will now do same to newer Don Rosa stories :wah:

Proof: Scrooge's parents. Only featured in this form in Don Rosa's comics.

I know that it is not in Disney's style, but atleast CREDIT him. Give him some more North American fans so that he doesnt need to sit alone all day at American comic conventions.

I wasn't overly impressed with the art for the show, for me it just doesn't work.

Entertainment Weekly reports a number of new people have joined the show, including Allison Janney as Goldie O'Gilt and Margo Martindale as Ma Beagle.

Margo Martindale is especially inspired, not just because she's always wonderful, but also because it's a nice callback to Justified. :D

That was just...terrible. The animation was very sterile. It looked very CGI, and extremely flat (looks like construction paper-flat). When I think of the original, even hand-drawn and painted the original still managed to get some depth to the pictures. The 80's Ducktales didn't feel flat, even though it was a 2-D drawing.

The main title was released today:

I'm not sure how I feel about the song itself, but I love the animated sequence. Lots of references to actual episodes of the old series, which makes me wonder if they're just references (like the The Adventures of Tintin sequence) or if those stories will be adapted.

I also expected Lin-Manuel Miranda to sing the song, so that was a bit surprising. Odd the description page doesn't identify the singer.

Nice to see that Mrs. Beakley seems to have a more active role.

Former American Idol contestant Felicia Barton, no idea about her other work but it works for me here. I like the whole title sequence.
