News Any really good 'NEW' Comics or Superheroes ??

Intro: I am new as well to this particular section of posts about Science fiction and fantasy... although I do "attempt" simple Science Fiction stories and their story line at Wattpad this is my first post in this section as well as first thread thingy.

Why: I have been playing, on and off, a science fiction type game/rollplay MMO sorta called warframe a kind of space-ninja "story-line" game. The people who market the game have decided to market this comic about the game. on the level - created by and for the obsessed game player (like me) It was/is new and such --- That had me wonder if there were game comics yes yes I know the trek comic is out there...and other comics about superheroes et,. c. but. then the thinking came to play. Are there any really good Comics and or superheroes there of that could be new?

what is new can be a relative term for each individual?
It depends on the amount of exposure to the new that the individual has.

Listing the latest comics will not work as there is so much crossover.
A new element in a comic series is almost monthly - maybe ?

It has all been done over and over... (a good example is wonder woman - every time the human gene pool puts out a new,... type of female ... one can expect a new wonder woman series. or not. [not to disrespect the feminist I am or that are out there besides me] or at least a new way to name ones children, maybe.

The Catalyst Prime universe from Lions Forge is promising - it's only got one title so far, they're debuting a new one each month, called Noble which feels like it might be aiming to be their equivalent to Superman in some respects.

I haven't read most of them yet, but Image has been doing some pretty well liked new original comics for the last few years, Saga, Bitch Planet, East of West, The Wicked + The Divine and Rat Queens are some that come to mind immediately for me. I tried Saga, which wasn't for me, and I have own but have not read the first collections of the rest.

Yeah, Image seems to be the place where most of the good comic book material seems to be coming from these days. If you're into "genre" storytelling in general then I think you'd be hard pressed not to find at least two or three of their current titles your liking.

Marvel and DC have also been introducing new heroes off and on for a while now, with one of the biggest probably being Kamala Khan from Marvel.

A lot of people know the tale of two (really more like three, possibly four) Captain Marvels due to copyright issues, etc.

But Daredevil has a similarly odd tale. The original Daredevil lapsed into public domain some time ago, before the more recent Marvel iterations. Since then a few other comics houses have tried to bring back original Daredevil, including Image and AC (small long lived direct-sales publisher known almost entirely for FemForce).

By no means a new character in comics but probably new to most, Bloodshot is about to be in a new movie next year as Sony begins to start Valant comics universe movies. I really enjoyed Ahoy! Comics' "High Heaven" and "Captain Ginger".

The former is dark satire, following the misadventures of a character who lived a miserably mediocre life, dies in a humiliating situation, and is sent to heaven, which he finds not to be as nice as advertised. But he soon learns of "High Heaven", another level of heaven reserved for those deaming themselves morally pure enough.

"Captain Ginger" is a space opera following the last survivors of Earth after aliens invaded, looking for a new home on board of a rundown starship. Oh, and they're genetically engineered anthromorphic cats.

Both books have concluded their "first seasons", aka the first miniseries ending in cliffhangers, which have since been collected in paperback editions, and I'm looking forward to the "second seasons".

If you're interested in fantasy and/or fantasy role-playing games, you really need to check out Die, written by Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine) with gorgeous painted art by Stephanie Hans. The story is about a group of teens who were pulled into a fantasy world by their obsessive Gamemaster, then reappear back in the real world 2 years later, unable to talk about where they've been or what they've been doing. The book is set 20-some years later, after they've all built lives as adults, with various degrees of success. They get dragged back into the fantasy world again by the crazed GM, and resume the lives of the characters they had created there. Now they're dealing with the consequences of all that happened to them during their previous sojourn, plus their baggage as adults in the real world.

The story has just begun to scratch the surface of these characters and their abilities, much less the multifaceted (heh) game world created by their former friend and GM. I highly recommend checking this out. (BTW, the surface similarity to the 80s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon is intentional. ) Happily, the first 5 issues have just been collected in TPB as Die: Fantasy Heartbreaker (link). The monthly series continues in August.

Last good superhero was Deadpool and that was nearly 30 years ago.
In my mind Johns Green Lantern run is still new and awesome. I recommend everyone to read that one day.

I don't entirely understand the question.

Are we talking new characters/series that someone who hasn't paid attention to comics for the past x years maybe hasn't heard about?

Or are we talking about characters/series that feel 'fresh' or 'new' compared to traditional stuff like Marvel and DC?

Or are we just talking about characters/series that are more or less current but also good?

Personally, I'm currently reading mostly old x-men but in terms of modern stuff I've tried that is definitely good, I'd second Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan (and the Champions, too, which co-stars Ms. Marvel) as well as Rat Queens. I also really enjoyed the Domino solo series, though it got cancelled fairly quickly I believe. Also, Surviving Megalopolis was a fun superhero horror story. I haven't gotten ahold of the sequel Leaving Megalopolis yet, but I'm definitely on the lookout for it.

Don't know extent those would be considered 'fresh/new', though. But in terms of a mainstream company like Marvel, Ms. Marvel/Champions is possibly as close as you get to that feeling.

Disagree completely.

Miles Morales, Kamala Khan and as of this year, Naomi (probably my favourite of the three) are better in every single way compared to Deadpool and are at the top of my reading list monthly.

Truly, Naomi is one of my favourite books on the stands now, period, and it's only at issue 5.

I just started reading Curse Words written by Charles Soule with art by Ryan Browne, and it is a lot of fun. It follows a Wizard from another dimension named Wizord, who is originally sent to Earth to destroy it, but instead decides to protect it instead. I'm up to the last issue of the first collection, and so far I've really liked it. Wizord has a talking Koala as a sidekick, which alone ears the book a few points from me.
I don't know if it really counts as new since they're about hit issue 100 in a few months, and it's a IP that's been around for 30 years, but before I started Curse Words I read the second volume of IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it was awesome. I originally started the series mmostly out of nostalgia, because I loved the original cartoon when I was a kid, and I've been amazed at just how great the series is.

Only the ones that don't need to be rebooted with premise altered out of a desire to fix something that wasn't broken to begin with? Or put into alternate timelines (e.g. all eight jillion variations for Spider-Man, Superman had a few zillion more if I remember rightly...) to expand and allow what's otherwise deemed apocryphal to the franchise?
