My favorite thing about Voyager is...

It's hard to pick one thing in Voyager I liked. I'm not quite sure what worked about the good episodes that didn't quite work in the others.

If I had to pick one thing, I'd say Voyager tended to have clever resolutions to problems. Voyager's first instinct was to outsmart and outcraft the enemy in feints, ruses and traps. Make deals and then be ready for it when the enemy was ready to betray them. That sort of story logic gets you engaged more than the pew pew pew.

I agree with this. Perfect examples are Think Tank and Counterpoint

That it's the last of it's kind. For all the grief Voyager gets for not being serialised enough, it's the last Star Trek where you can just dip in anywhere and know what's going on.

I can think of a few things.
1 Janeway is a intresting character. A very capable Captain, who when written well has some of the best traits of Captain Kirk and when she isn't written well is sometimes still saved because Mulgrew always gives a terrific performance
2 Paris and Torres makes for a fun romantic couple. I like how they play the fun of romance instead of making ever scene seem like we are supose to think they are living a romance of the ages.
3I like all the characters at least a little bit.
4 EMH is great character and one of the best in all of Trek.
5 The show has one great season, 2 very good seasons and 1 solid season which puts it ahead of "Enterprise" when ranking the shows.
6 A few good reacuring characters in Seska,Suder, Carrey,Wildeman and Naomi, and Barclay.

Jason

It had the greatest vision. It looked to the future even when it was that future. I liked the glimpses of 29th Century, the wonder of the unknown not yet fully formed.

Paris and Torres made the show for me.

Not a big fan, but it does contain possibly the funniest line ever in Star Trek.

"You were working for her [Janeway], Seska was working for them [the Cardassians]... was anyone on that ship working for me?"

- Chakotay to Tuvok, on finding out that Seska was a Cardassian spy
(Thanks Memory Alpha for getting my memory of it straight)

I can't help but like Chakotay ..that above being an example of why. It amuses me too that he had Suder in the mix and for a while that Bajoran who brainwashed Tuvok. Jonas who was born to be a traitor.

Motely crew..

Just goes to show that conspiracy theories will never die.

Oh but, you forgot Suder, who "worked" in freewheeling since he was so uncontrollable. I guess that he "worked" more for himself than for Chakotay too!

Finally found the picture I was thinking of when I read this:

They had the greatest odds against any captain, the constant and tremendous temptation to abandon Federation ideals for what is more expedient, lack of support forced them to bargain and barter their way, and abasing impossible odds, they succeeded. Janeway is one of the greatest captains in Federation history. And she's not just some person in command relying on the expertise of others. She excelled in the sciences and really knew her stuff, too.
The EMH's evolution and quest for equal rights. The whole fear in that quadrant that holo-beings might evolve too quickly and overrun normal corporeal beings was great. The next step in evolution? AI sentience? Fascinating.
Time travel episodes - always fun.
The Borg threat - met, dealt with, neutralized.
And so much more. I liked all the characters - though Kim didn't do as much as others, they were all good, and sometimes great.
Truly, an epic journey home - an odyssey of epic proportions.

Ha! :guffaw: Those were really terrific. The Gilligan's Island version is a bit better than the Brady Bunch. But that Monk... wow, there's a lot of potential with that one. Could make like 2~3 more variations with all the footage that's available on the Doctor. :techman:
