Precisely one of the reasons I loved that show and thought it had some of the best writing since TOS (at the time).... or the cries of "DS9 is too dark...it's p*ssing all over GR's 'vision'.."

In 10 years or so, DSC will be remembered fondly and the next Star Trek show will be the harbinger of the franchise's doom.Hell, people forget the backlash TNG got when it launched; or the cries of "DS9 is too dark...it's p*ssing all over GR's 'vision'.."
Cries of "NOT TREK" are par for the course when ANY new Star Trek project is announced and put into actual production.

Trekkies in 2030: "DSC and the Kelvin Trilogy are Star Trek. This new show is NOT MY STAR TREK!!!"Will it involve systematically destroying one or more people's childhoods?
Only the first two seasons and only the episodes I like. Everything else is an alternate universe.Everyone knows True Trek™ was only produced in 1964-1965. Everything after that was a diluted, bastardized version.
I'm declaring right now that I will hate everything Star Trek created from now until I die, and possibly even after that!Slacker. I'm hating the sequel after that!
I'm making it part of my will!I'm declaring right now that I will hate everything Star Trek created from now until I die, and possibly even after that!

In 2063 when they shift the whole timeline forward by a century, there will be riots. Small ones.
I still don't need Star Trek to "The Future of Mankind" beyond the innate belief that humanity can learn and grow and develop beyond current problems, prejudices and the like.
