... has anyone had issues with CBS?

It does seems they are apply their "Case by Case" Basis to "Continues" - We've not heard of any issues and Vic does have the Non-Profit Status no others were smart enough to get.

"Project Potemkin" technically breaks the guideline part "...with no additional seasons, episodes, parts, sequels or remakes." since we see the same characters and ship in ongoing episodes. They however don't break any of the other guidelines. The lack of the word "series" in the guidelines is interesting. (Are "Series", "Seasons" and "Episodes" the same thing?) Another case of CBS "Case By Case" basis? Plus it is a very low-budget, clearly embracing the spirit of fan films as per the rest of the guidelines.

Has any fan film had issues,"Horizon 2" was before the guidelines,"Forward Farragut" is on hold of it's own doing last I heard, and James is sitting on the remaining episodes of his decision.

I guess the guidelines are working. But has there been any good NEW STAR TREK Fan films since the guidelines came out? I'm not taking ones in production before the guidelines, and RENEGADES No longer counts, and that looks good.

Potemkin Pictures hasn't heard anything from CBS/Paramount, but we believe that we are fully in compliance since each of our productions stands on its own. There was no prohibition against recurring characters or settings. Further I believe the prohibition was to prevent a 90 mins film from being broken into 9 ten minute segments to get away with bypassing the length restrictions. I could be mistaken, of course.

All in all, for the most part, we've found that the guidelines fit our style of storytelling.

We've had no trouble at all and have released three films with recurring characters since the guidelines dropped. CBS are absolutely aware of this.

I don't recall the particulars but I believe Exeter Studio might have been a registered non-profit. I remember Jimm even went to events and did actual educational demonstrations of the old school in-camera effects using a beam splitter. There used to be video of one of those out there someplace.

It was definitely on the "Making of Savage Empire" dvd. I always thought it was neat that he did that. :)

I'd be surprised if anyone ever does hear from CBS/P about their production. Unless they go way over the top like "that one" did, and make sure to observe the spirit of the guidelines, I'd bet it's all good.

The Fan Film Guiidelines are a year old, and in real life, most fans take over a year to produce a film, so your timing is an issue.

However, there have been many films that were released that fit the guidelines which I found worth watching. Most releases from Potemkin Pictures are worth a look. A random selection of a few others:

May 3, 2017, New Release from Michael Stutelberg, "Galactic Geography," (Sets, costumes, teen fans, CGI, Star Trek/Star Wars crossover film), (5:54).

April 29, 2017, Major New Release, (Adult fans, costumes, props, location shooting, Silver Age.) "Survivors." (15:00). This is a sequel to their prior release, "Survivor." (9:59). For more about this filmmaker and links to his other work, see http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/119.html.

March 29, 2017, New Release from Starfleet Studios, (Silver Age, Adult Fans, costumes, props, green screens, partial sets) Raven: Voyager Continues, Episode 2, Derelict (9:02).

March 25, 2017, Major New Release from Starship Melbourne, (Live Action, Adult fans, sets, costumes, Golde Age) Part 1 of their introductory episode, "Storm Front," (11:26).

February 13, 2017, New Release from Starship Republic, their first film, a short film entitled, "Serpent of Yesterday." https://vimeo.com/198521556(9:00) or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1gvy_kewM4(9:00).

    Not quite in the guidelines:
February 1, 2017, Major New Release, One-Shot, "Chance Encounter" (Adult fans, live action, CGI, Silver Age, costumes, props, partial sets, green screens). On You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuMFDtpjA3M (20:42). For more about Chance Encounter, see its permanent home at http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/133.html.

January 27, 2017, Repost from Starship Grissom, an educational fan film series. (live action, adult fans, costumes, sets, CGI, props.) The most female-dominated cast of any live-action series I've ever seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbExz32KcsA(15:08).

January 11, 2017, New Release from long-running Scottish Fan Film Starship Intrepid, (adult fans, costumes, location shoots, green screens, props, special effects), "Duty of Care," on Vimeo, https://vimeo.com/198911854(8:26) or on You Tube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTIouG2191U(8:26).

Correct. CBS/P has no interest in policing fan films, just stay close to the lines and you will be good.

You mean CBS is okay as long as you aren't trying to build a studio by stealing their IP?!? If only someone with the initials AP had known this!

It's good to hear no one had had any issues...
