Thoughts on Discovery Starfleet Uniforms (Trailer Edition)

Oh I know, I told someone who thought the Nutrek/ old trek arguments where bad they should see an RPG edition war lol. Wizards of the Coast had to shut down the Forgotten Realms boards a few years back because people where actually sending death threats to authors over setting changes.

I find most trek arguments rather tame

Now that I see the piping on the uniforms has the same color that the Cage uniforms do, I feel better about the DSC unis. No canon violation.

(Still wish the rank insignia was easier to see, though.)

And I repeat my wish for the Mirror DSC uniforms (come on, you all know they'll do it...) to be red.

I agree that the rank insignia would be nice, though technically, in "The Cage" it was really only "Captain" "Lieutenant" and "Crewman."

Agree with you that the rank insignia shoould be more visible. I think the naval-esque TOS sleeve insignia would look best on this one.

Technically, "Captain" wasn't added until WNMHGB (in The Cage all officers wore a single braid) and there was also a ladder-pattern sleeve insignia https://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.ne...ision/latest?cb=20170419194914&path-prefix=en generally assumed to correspond to "Chief" (tho it could also be ensign).

I have to agree the dark blue and the metallic piping just looks good and compliments itself well. I'm kind of digging the red on metal too but I could see it clashing with the scene lighting they chose to run with. Would love to see the pips photoshopped off of the badge, the sides cleaned up as you did @M, and sleeve rank bands added.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Kelvin-era style braid on this. The ranks being so discretely added are the one thing i'm not loving. The only downside is that extra shine on the cuff might push the metallics too into excess. Especially as they'd have to be colour coded to match.

Having some fun with the uniform. I think what they ended up with is still the best version, though:

I'm really like seeing the variations, so thank you for taking the time to recolor.

One question I have is if the original colors (either Cage or TOS) but the panels are left but in black and matching up with the pants.

Though on a serious note, they look much better in variable colors. From what I've seen right now, the series seems to be oversaturated in blue where Starfleet is concerned. Maybe the enemies are much more colorful? Who knows?
