CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

They do not think for themselves, they just spout the talking points that Alec tells them......
Yep - Like how Alec Peters continues to say that Disney/Lucasfilm Star Wars Fan Film Guidlines are great:
http://nofilmschool.com/2016/02/make-your-own-star-wars-fan-film-lucasfilm-2016-contest
(Couldn't find anything for the 2017 Star Wars Fan Film contest so the above is a link to the latest). Highlights include:
- Can't be longer than 5 Minutes.

- Don't show any brands or logos, famous landmarks, buildings, books, works of art etc.

- Don't include any names and/or likenesses of any person other than you in the Submission without first obtaining written permission (this includes not using images/voices of famous people).

and better/less restrictive than what was done by CBS/Paramount for Star Trek Fan Films:
http://www.startrek.com/fan-films
Really? Hell, right off the bat:
1) The fan production must be less than 15 minutes for a single self-contained story, or no more than 2 segments, episodes or parts, not to exceed 30 minutes total, with no additional seasons, episodes, parts, sequels or remakes.
^^^
That single point in itself already makes CBS/Paramount LESS restrictive on Star Trek Fan Films then Disney/Lucasfilm is with regard to Star Wars Fan Films - yet Alec Peters continues to cite Disney/Lucasfilm as "getting it" when it comes to fan films.:rommie:

Correct if I'm mistaken, but were not the Star Wars rules written to allow them to run a fan-film contest, thus the very short time limit of five minutes (so the judges could watch more submissions)???

I'm trying to remember what period of time was given to 'finalise the details of the settlement'? That date has passed, hasn't it?

I couldn't remember if it was 60 days or 90. Even if it was the latter, that would only have taken it up to the end of April.

So they should be behaving themselves now, shouldn't they?;)

Have you noticed the ringing absence of a new run at Trek money in the last few weeks?

Yes - it has occurred to me that it's been generally very quiet on the AP front since they settled into their new location and the "doing the 2 15 minute shorts and done" announcement. Being so quiet is not usually his M.O. Wonder what's going on. Could they actually be making the flippin' movie, finally?

Well you know, its utterly amazing that he still has permission to play in this backyard after trying to build his own pool club around someone else's pool.

If I had to guess, it probably would have a lot to do with whether money can be found. Based on product per dollar invested, Axanar operations tend to be a bit pricey by oh say art film industry standards , and he did say something about filming in California even though he isn't there anymore. This clearly would require new tires.

Honestly if he did just settle down and make something using talented amateurs and a good writer, it would be a far better outcome even after all the crash and burn tumbling down 10 SR-71 runways to date.

I'm fairly certain that he's busy cooking up a new plan to fleece the faithful for more "operating capital."

Edited to add: Usually when it's been quiet for a bit Carlos will uncover some new information. Wait for it . . . :techman:

Actually, he has commissioned various Axanar Fan Groups in different states. He is, also, attacking various group members from the Axamonitor Facebook Group. One of the latest news, a Axanar Fan Group member got "Permission from Alec Peters himself" to write an Axanar comic book.

I'll believe this when I see it

Abject failure generally doesn't generate good PR.
