Scariest sight in all of Star Trek? (for the characters)

Andy Hong

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
What do you think is the scariest, most horrifying sight in all of Trek? (for the characters) Me, I was thinking it was the (possibly slowly) moving torpedo heading directly at your bridge! (or wherever the viewscreen camera is) (Chang's ship in VI, Duras sister's ship in Generations, Nemesis, even Wrath of Khan).
Note: this would probably be worse in the Kelvin universe, it being an actual window!

The faceless crew member in "Charlie X."

Freaked me out as a kid. And I have to imagine it would be even scarier for the poor woman and any other crew member.

No more eyes, no more nose, no more mouth . . . . she couldn't even scream.

(Shudder.)

That's certainly the scariest thing that *I* saw.

Spock/Henoch seemed to make Uhura experience something that made her scream in terror in "Return To Tomorrow," but we weren't shown what it was.

The destruction of the Yamato. Seeing your sister Ship going down with all hands - familys included - sure as hell is a bad way to start your day.
The destruction of Vulcan.

The transporter malfunction in TMP:

"Enterprise... what we got back didn't live long... fortunately."

That's the stuff of nightmares right there. That freaked me out when I was a kid.

Runner-up would have to be the idea that you can just be disintegrated at any time by an enemy energy weapon and have nothing left to mark your existence except possibly some DNA traces on a nearby wall if you're lucky enough to have someone know precisely where to look. We have that same not-knowing factor today to a degree if someone hides or disposes of a body well enough, but the finality of disintegration always disturbed me on the shows.

For the characters? I can't imagine flying into V'Ger was much fun, that thing was vast, and had the ability to wipe you out with a thought.

Borg drones marching towards you is likely quite horrifying.

Perhaps matched only by the toilet bowl after Mr Worf has left a deposit.

The idea of being vaporized must be really unsettling. More so than the idea of just dying, the idea of just suddenly vanishing and there being no trace of you remaining.

The two that come to mind for me are being pulled into Vejur, and that Borg cube heading toward them, especially in Best of Both Worlds, although every encounter with the Borg would be brown trousers time, IMHO.

Kirk seeing Gary's eyes turn silver and realizing he may have to kill his best friend.

I'd say Kirk seeing David's body, but Saavik was able to warn him about that ahead of time.

Same goes for Kirk going down to Engineering at the end of TWOK, actually.

On the other hand, it's quick and clean. I think I'd prefer that to some gawdawful transporter accident . . . .

How about that TNG episode where the female crew member falls halfway through the floor due to some anomaly I can't remember. Then the anomaly passes and she's fused with the floor. Would be pretty horrfying to see that I'd imagine

The episode is "In Theory."
