I'm a computer guy. Of course I know the meaning of the world.Ah . . . no. There's just one reboot in that sequence. It seems like you don't know the meaning of the word.
Correct. What the author is "confused" by is that there isn't giant block lettering spelling out the answer to all his non-essential questions. And a stretch to think anyone of normal intelligence could be confused by that trailer. It couldn't be much more linear or simple in presentation.
Banned.I like the Netflix trailer better.
Ooh, how novel...THAT IS A WOMAN - AND SHE IS BLACK
Not just yet.Banned.
Burnham: "Let it GOOOO, Let it GOOOO, LET IT GOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!"The fact that Trek never had a proper musical episode makes me sad. I certainly hope Burnham can dance.
I also want the first dramatic lonely scene to be used for Burnham to perform an introspective sad song about responsibility.
I would add WNMHGB, and to a lesser degree post-pilot TOS. Also TAS.I'm a computer guy. Of course I know the meaning of the world.
And therein lies the problem with metaphor: it can mean whatever the user wants it to, especially in the context of being an industry buzzword. But if we take the meaning at its most literal possible translation, then The Motion Picture is the definition reboot. And so is Khan. And TNG. And so on.
Yup.I would add WNMHGB, and to a lesser degree post-pilot TOS. Also TAS.

I genuinely can't understand why anyone is capable of forming an opinion of the series based on that trailer, aside from a purely visual, aesthetic level.
It was just a snapshot to show some of the characters, the look and the aliens on the show.
I thought it looked pretty Star Trekkie with loads of Trekkie aliens saying Trekkie things. It had Vulcans and Klingons and ships and people shouting on the bridge. On that basis, bring it on. I can't wait to see the pilot.
If there isn't someone shouting "fire phasers" and "warp speed" it ain't Star Trek.
That's logical captain.
It would be like Star Wars without the Force!
Totally not relevant, but the Gary Jules version is one of the few times where I think the cover really is better than the original, and I say that as a huge Fears fan.
