What would be a deal breaker for you in Discovery?

I'm the exact same way.

After years of hearing what a classic The Wizard of Oz is, I finally gave it a shot the other day. Good god it was sooooo boring! After 20 minutes I had to turn it off. I mean, who wants to watch some crappy black and white movie about farmers?

Lol, I see your point and I get it .Very good point. But that's just it, the Wizard of Oz is a classic that starts off slow, but it did failed at the box office the first time. Later on it became a classic. Was it too boring at first and the people left? I don't know, it could have been for other reasons, but who knows?

I mean, I could force myself to watch a show or movie that seems boring or doesn't seem right until I see something interesting. But I don't think that's always a normal reaction people have. If characters appear boring, not interesting, the plot is hard to understand or makes little sense, if even something is off about the scenery it can have an affect on how long you hang in there to watch it.

For some reason First contact and NuTrek did much better than insurrection or Nemesis. What made the fans not go to those but went to the others?

BorgKes - You don't want Marxist ideas, yet you enjoy a franchise where there is no money, humans have stopped pursuing greed for the sake of it and feel satisfied working for the man at no cost. LOL

Or in visual form:

Man, I was really willing to give this show a chance. I really was. I even defended it during he whole Klingon debacle. But after watching the trailer I'm out. Dumping it in the same bin Enterprise and JJTrek currently rest in. Catch you guys later when you decide to make a REAL Star Trek show.

Uh-huh

I told yall so.

Ok, I take that back. If this is set in like the 2230's. Then maaaayyybbeee. So I'm only 95% out.

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

It is set in the 2250s.

I didn't see that in the trailer. It said ten years before Kirk, Spock, and the Enterprise.

Ten years before Spock would be 2220.

But it seems we see a young Spock in the trailer. So maybe it's set about 2240. Spock would be 20 earth years old in the 2250s and already serving in Starfleet.

I wont.

'Kirk Spock and the Enterprise', when do you see all 3 together on screen? TOS.

10 years before TOS.

That young Vulcan could be anyone. It could be a flash back.

Hahaha. Look, I'm trying to find reasons not to hit the eject button.

For me, a deal breaker would be if Discovery is super dark and serious all the time without the sense of optimism and futurism that is a staple of the franchise.

Why are you here when you hate all of Star Trek?:(

By "repeatedly consistent" I am differentiating tv/movie from theater.

If I go to the same show in different theaters the same show will look different. But no matter where or when I play my DVDs they look the same.
