Civilian luxury starliner

so I've been working out a little idea that was flitting around in my head for my fan fiction. It involves the crew of a civilian cruise ship striking and mutinying against their repressive employers and officers, holding the passengers hostage. Anyway, the plot is for another thread. This is my concept for the starliner:

After a little working in 3D, and taking some cues from the merchantman ship seen on screen, I've come up with a couple of things.

Nacelle-forward configuration:

Nacelle-aft configuration:

Looking for comments, critique, and suggestions for ship design in the role.

Reminds me of some of Rick Sternbach's designs for the Space Flight Chronology from 1980.

I like it.

Yeah, your links are broken. For what it's worth, I thought the forward nacelle configuration was pretty interesting visually speaking.

Ah. I see the problem. Here's a better go of it;

I was thinking of having that large blister on the uppermost deck of the passenger accommodations being like a giant observatory; kind of a glass dome where all kinds of events could be held. It could be a Grand Ballroom/Amphitheathre under the stars.

I thought it looked better with the nacelles towards the back, but now you've added some dorsal structures I think the nacelles-forward design looks great!

I like the design, looks excellent!

Regarding the glass dome, is it supposed to be a room accessible from the sides with a big glass roof, or is there a structure/multiple levels inside to facilitate a view out the side of the dome? If it's the former I would consider having the dome be a little shallower and not protrude quite so much. Just food for thought.

I'd also be interested to know scale/dimensions.

Me likey. One thing that occurs to me, though, is that people like to go out on deck on cruises. Maybe add some force field emitters, and get a swimming pool, tennis court, miniature golf course, EVA suit racks, etc, out there? And then remember that there is no "up" in space, so maybe some of that is oriented on the "bottom" of the ship, too?

I know that sounds dangerous, but I'm thinking that there has to be some reason to take a cruise like this rather than just visiting a local holosuite or holodeck facility - so the real (but almost non-existent per insurance requirements ;) ) danger of being out in space doing those activities might be part of that.

Think of it as a big room with a glass (or rather forcefield) roof. Holoemitters could be used to generate a variety of furnishings within that space to suit events. Those settings would include things like a concert stage and seating, banquet tables, ballroom dance floors, symphony hall stage and seating, auditorium, etc. All with a grand, unobstructed view of the stars and the sense of being out on deck.

As for scale, I kind of tossed off the idea of having the dome be roughly the size of a small NFL stadium.

My girlfriend said she thought the aft-nacelle configuration looked more military in nature. I'll keep that mesh for a future redress of the model.
