Jason Isaacs Interview

Yeah, great to have that confirmed! Funny those "experts" we used to see around here who told us how Hollywood works and that it HAD to be in the Kelvin universe. Ha!

Yeah, so instead of a show that takes place in the Kelvin universe, we're getting a show that takes place in the prime universe but will look nothing like TOS. I'd be curious to know which option you think is better.

I don't expect or mind that it doesn't look exactly like TOS. And, I'm a huge TOS fan. I *am* glad that it is a direct prequel to TOS. So, I'm good.

If that twitter photo from Frakes is of the DIS set, it looks like a modern take on the TOS aesthetic, which I'm totally fine with.

To me, the story and the setting of the story is more important than the precise look.

I think it will be a reimagining as much as TMP was, but still fit into the Prime universe.

Of course a show (based on a fictional future of 300 years) produced in 2017 should look exactly like a show produced in 1966 (based on the same fictional future)...most definitely. Even tho the cheapest mobile phone today, looks more advanced than Kirk's communicator.

What an unnecessary--and arguably irresponsible--thing to say.

I have no idea who Ted Sullivan is, but this doesn't imbue with faith he has any idea what he's doing.

They can say it is Prime. But it'll be hard to swallow, at least for me. The technology of Discovery will be based on our understanding of technology in 2017.

I can't believe over and entire series run they are going to be able to ignore things like instantaneous access to information and DNA. Things that were central to some TOS stories.

I do believe that, if successful, Discovery will be followed by a new version of TOS.
