I'd like to rule the galaxy with an iron fist.
I love you, Anakin.
I love you, Anakin.
Wait there was romance in the PT?
And it's not like Portman is a bad actor.
She isn't that good really. Her performances in Thor and Thor 2 leave much to be desired.
That's rather reductionist. You have to think about their history. She met him as a slave, and that rattled her. She didn't know that still went on. She then says herself in TPM that it's clear to her that the Republic no longer functions.I'd like to rule the galaxy with an iron fist.

Story-wise, it's brilliant, but it owes a lot to James Earl Jones, too.
As I've stated upthread, I think the romance is well done and is much less bog standard than Han and Leia's flirting.
Yes they do.Last I checked she is an Academy Award winner, poor actors generally don't win that accolade
I mean, "the public consciousness" thinks TFA is good, so i'd take their opinion with a bucket of salt.Absolutely, his delivery goes beyond memorable. Good luck finding someone who hasn't mimicked that scene at some point in their adult life ☺
You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. It's interesting, though, that in the public consciousness one of those romances is almost universally credited as being one of the most lasting and believable portrayals of genuine chemistry to have been shown on screen whilst the other is virtually synonymous with "wooden".
Guess which is which![]()

Keeping in mind that "value" here doesn't mean "where I get my taste from" (not that it does for most people), i'd say that I value the opinions ofI loved Crash....???
Just curious, exactly whose opinion DO you value?
It was intended to be hyperbolic shorthand, and do so obviously, so I thought, so, yes, of course it's reductive. That's rather reductionist.
But you hold that opinion either way, so your mindset on the issue is reductive. It was intended to be hyperbolic shorthand, and do so obviously, so I thought, so, yes, of course it's reductive.
No.But you hold that opinion either way, so your mindset on the issue is reductive.
I disagree.
Let me just stop you right there. You have no read on my mindset.I disagree.
Eh, from my point of view your stance on this issue can only be arrived at through an inaccurate lens.Let me just stop you right there. You have no read on my mindset.
Then why don't you see the truth? We've all seen the movies and we've all heard the ridiculously bad lines in the "romantic" dialogs. Nothing reductive about that. It's out there for everybody to see.
