Eliza Dushku To Star In ‘The Black Company’ Series Adaptation In Works By IM Global & David Goyer

The series follows the exploits of the Black Company, an elite mercenary unit that carries out the often nefarious deeds of the highest bidder across a Tolkeinesque landscape. When these hard-bitten men discover the prophecy that the embodiment of good has been reborn, they must re-examine their loyalties. The Lady (Dushku), who rules over the Northern Empire, uses the Black Company to further her domination of a power structure rife with usurpers. Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

Holy hell, Glen Cook's The Black Company series is getting adapted for TV? Never thought I'd see that. The author describes the world as Tolkienesque but that's bull. Cook was the anti-Tolkien years before George R.R. Martin. The first three books are the best and tell a complete story. I hope they'll try to keep it and all its funky imagery intact.

A fantasy series starring Eliza Dushku? I am so there.
For me Dushku is a downside. Her acting tends to be one dimensional. Then again the article states
“Glen Cook’s books turn the traditional fantasy adventure tropes on their ear with wry, dimensional characters and a modern sensibility,” said IM Global Television President Mark Stern.
So maybe it's a good fit for her. ;)

The First
Hulu is going to have a new show about the first manned mission to Mars.
From the guy who brought us House of Cards.

a drama set in the near future about the first human mission to Mars. The series explores the challenges of taking the first steps toward interplanetary colonization.

“It’s a story about the human spirit,” said Willimon. “About our indomitable need to reach for unknown horizons. About people working toward the greatest pioneering achievement in human history. And about the cost of that vision, the danger and sacrifice — emotional, psychological, and physical — that’s required to achieve it. How ordinary, imperfect people band together and overcome a myriad of obstacles to grasp the extraordinary.”

That's the type of show that ought to appeal to folks on this board.

I don't think it's started filming yet though, so we won't see it until 2018.

Damn Hulu, almost everything I've seen them announce has sounded interesting.
Has anybody seen if there's been any news lately about their adaptation of the YA fantasy series Throne of Glass? They announced it a while but I haven't caught any news since the initial announcement. I just tried a Bing search and all I got was stories about the announcement for it.

The Crossing and The Gospel of Kevin ordered to series

The Crossing

The Crossing stars Steve Zahn (Modern Family) and Natalie Martinez (APB) in a time-travel story where American war refugees from the future travel back in time to present-day America, seeking asylum.
