Which DS9 episode would you most like to see in HD?

With the DS9 Documentary looking to HD-ify some key scenes from DS9, I'm really looking forward to finally seeing the station in HD. Although the likelihood of seeing the whole series remastered in HD remains remote, there may be a possibility that CBS could be persuaded to release a special edition boxset with perhaps 4 key episodes remastered. So, if you could only choose one episode to be remastered in HD, which would it be?

From a practical standpoint, I think "Trials and Tribble-ations": it's the one episode that might sell remastering the whole series.
From an artistic standpoint, "Necessary Evil": great acting, wonderful noir feel.

That said, I think the one I would choose is "Call to Arms:" good fx, each main character gets a part of the story, good dialogue.

I was thinking Trials and Tribble-ations as an option too, but Necessary Evil is an interesting, not-so-obvious, choice. Other potential episodes that I think would be great are Sacrifice of Angels, for it's battle scenes and In The Pale Moonlight, for being one of the best episodes of the series. I'd probably go with the latter if I had to choose just one...

Call to Arms and Sacrifice of Angels for example of great battles, Duet and In the Pale Moonlight for drama, Little Green Men and Our Man Bashir for comedy.

"What You Leave Behind"

Purely so they could replace most or if not all of the reused battle footage. The stuff from "Sacrifice of Angels" in particular is just starkly out of place when you compare it to the new footage and even the other reused footage. Plus they could stamp the new Defiant with a different registry

  • Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges(Season 7)
  • Visionary(Season 3)
  • Things Past(Season 5)
I chose 3 that were unsung, compelling, have excellent cinematography, and don't utilize cgi VFX shots, as it seems any remastering of DS9 (or Voy) would require rebuilding all of the cg elements from scratch. If they ever release a sampler disk, it would most likely contain Emissary, and Trials & Tribble-ations.

The original CGI assets do seem to be around so it wouldn't actually be too much trouble to re-render to HD. In fact, there are a few examples of people doing just that...

I'd definitely have to go with battle/action heavy episodes. HD is all about the visuals, and so personally I would rather see episodes that take the most advantage of that.

I love character driven episodes, but I could happily still watch them on VHS and get all the drama.

True, but to watch The Visitor in HD would be amazing...

Let's see:
  • good acting
  • good story
  • location shooting
  • special effects
  • good representation of all the main characters
  • and for good measure, Garak?
How about Rocks and Shoals?

The last one. "What You Leave Behind" is my favorite episode in the franchise. Besides, if I saw beautiful, glorious HD any sooner, I'd feel the effects of whiplash from jumping right back into SD. :P
