Seemed like the A's were just waiting to see what the Raiders would do. Now that they know, it seems like the push got considerably stronger to stay in Oakland, even to the point of taking the tarps off the upper deck. Still think it would be a great idea to build a new stadium in the Colusium spot or something and make sure the oakland hills are visible again. I remember when the Colusium was a great place to watch a game, but that was before the Raiders came back.

I still can't get a handle on the Giants this year. They have a losing record but they seem to be gaining confidence somewhat. Would love to see them take 3 out of 4 this weekend, especially with Bum and Cueto pitching tonight and tomorrow.

Did they really do that? Cool! :techman:

And they wouldn't even have to demolish the existing stadium first. There's plenty of room there to build a real ballpark and the A's could continue to use the Coliseum while they do it.

The best start for Severino in over a year.

    11K's, 1 Walk, average fastball 96.8.

Only 23... if this kid can keep this up, it would be huge for the Yankees.

Yes. I am assuming that any new stadium would not move from that complex, although the City and the ownership group are supposed to reveal their possible site choices next year. I am guessing that with Lew Wolff gone, the A's will be playing in a proper ballpark by the early 2020's. I just hope that they find a way to incorporate a section of bleachers.

Cubs get swept by the Pirates thanks to the bullpen giving up 11 runs in games 2 and 3.

Can we get Wood back please?

Epstein was legendarily terrible at building bullpens when he was in Boston, and he and Hoyer suck at it in Chicago.

Jays are 2-9 and just can't seem to get the offence going. I'm hoping some of my fellow Jays fans are seeing why people weren't willing to sign Bautista. The guy keeps taking home run swings when he could just put the ball in play and advance the runners.

It just amazes me these guys think they can get away with doing foods.

Then of course the ever predictable "I'm sorry, I didn't know" lie.

I'm still firmly of the opinion that a significant amount, perhaps even the majority, of players are using as-yet-undetectable substances. Drug chemists didn't go away overnight just because Biogenesis collapsed, just as Biogenesis didn't go away because of BALCO. There's always some outfit out there ready to become the new Signature Pharmacy or whatever.

    True I guess.

    Sad state of affairs.

I guess I'm a little more optimistic than that.

Well, the thing is, people like Nelson Cruz and Chris Davis are still out there getting megadeals despite having been popped, which as I've explained before means one of two thngs: Either teams believe those players' use did not have any effect upon their success, or they believe they're still using but getting away with it. The fact of the matter is that MLB has a ridiculously weak testing program (despite what the 60 Minutes puff piece on Bud Selig's handling of Biogenesis would have you believe), and that the MLBPA offered to allow increased testing, including blood testing (which is the holy grail for HGH testing, since despite all the money in the world WADA hasn't come up with a reliable urine test for it), in exchange for blowing up the QO system -- to which Rob Manfred told them to go pound sand -- should tell you exactly how "concerned" MLB is about its drug problem.

I agree. The temptation of a new multi-million dollar deal is just too strong to resist.

MadBum to the DL with a grade-2 sprain to his pitching shoulder, as well as bruised ribs. He crashed his dirt bike. Expected to be out up to two months.

    Ouch.

I'm assuming he wasn't even allowed to be on a dirt bike.
