Star Trek: Discovery: Aggravated that CBS will charge us

Can all-access be paid for by cash/gift cards? If you were a 12 year old and wanting to watch trek, but your parents were unwilling to subscribe to CBS all access even if you were to pony up the money, that would be an issue. Amazon/itunes gift cards are available, but not for CBS.

Your average 12 year old will figure out how to watch it, even if Mom and Dad won't pony up for it. Though I'm not sure how many 12 year old's are waiting for a new Star Trek series. Enterprise went off the air before they were born.

I was 8 when I first started watching trek, when EaF was first broadcast in the UK, 11 when DS9 first aired on sky one. I hadn't seen any trek when TNG started.

Not that I know of, but VISA, MasterCard, and American Express gift cards would work just as well. Just fill it up with $7 or $11 every month.

Their interest in Trek would probably be more related to the new movies.
When ST:ID was in theaters, I saw some kid with his dad at a used book/movie store grabbing up anything related to Star Trek. He seemed really excited about getting a DVD of "Generations." Part of me wanted to say "Nooo!" but I figured it was none of my business.

Sometimes you don't need the strongest dose to hook the young. I discovered TNG as a kid, and among the first 5 episodes I ever saw were "The Game", "Unification II" (without seeing part one), and (good god) "Code Of Honor."

I was immediately addicted anyway. :techman:

The first one I ever saw was a time paradox were Picard shoots himself. I'm amazed I watch more after that.

The average 12-year old probably makes enough allowance money to be able to afford a CBSAA subscription.

Time Squared was awesome! HOW DARE YOU??!!??

:D
Because I didn't know who was the real Picard! I thought It was going to end up the imposter killed him and took his place and turn in to this nightmare. Then he vanished like a Force Ghost and I was all kinds of confused.

My four year old has enough in his piggy bank to pay for several subscriptions. THANKS GRANDDAD!

But can the 4 year old subscribe to CBS access? Can 12 year olds get pre-paid mastercards in the same way they can buy $50 amazon/itunes gift vouchers? Can they agree to the CBS T&C? If so, yes not a problem, but it was one reason I could see why someone would be happy/able to pay for trek on itune, but not on cbs.

Most likely, yes. He is quite adept at finding ways past parental filters, and signing up for subscriptions.

I know the birthday info is just an iron clad wall that keeps kids from using anything until they're 18.

It's bigly.

IMO, it would be stupid to pay money for CBS All Access for this because I honestly believe that the show is going to flop on that platform. After the first season they will probably just put the show on Netflix (for America). Of course, that's assuming that the show even lasts past the first season because everything I've read about this show seems like it's headed for disaster. After Bryan Fuller stepped down, that was a huge red flag.
