Netflix has most of NuWho for here, just no second half of season seven and nine so far.

So unlikely to have S10 till far after the blu-rays come out. It's just that I dumped DISH last year and have no desire to get tied up in a contract for 2 shows (DW and OB) that I can buy the blu-rays pretty soon after the seasons' end.

I know Amazon has the show, but I don't know how big of a delay there is.

I enjoyed the callbacks to Susan (finally!), River and Clara (just subtle enough) and the can full of sonic screwdrivers was lovely! Too bad I didn't see any sign of The Second Doctor's in there. I guess because it was too small.

That's because the toy company that made all those sonics in the can (yep, they're all the very same ones you can buy in stores) hasn't gotten around to making Two's yet. Or Six's sonic lance. Or Eight's 'Dark Eyes' variant.

The script under the Dalek eyestalk only started appearing in the reboot's design. I think they're ID tags or serial numbers.

I think we can very definitely say Susan's dead at this point, unless she's the one in the vault... :(

Yeah, I figured that was the case, especially since I have The Fourth Doctor's sonic.

As in since 2005? I'm surprised I've never noticed it before.

I hadn't thought of that but you're probably right. :(

Loved it. Bill was great.

It strikes me that complaining about plots on Doctor Who is a bit of an exercise in futility, so I won't bother.

I didn't know if I'd like Bill or not. Nor did I know if I would care for Nardole to be back yet again. It turns out I thoroughly enjoyed them both. Bill in particular. She's unafraid to ask questions or call the Doctor out on his BS. She has a real knack for plumbing his guilt, which will make for an interesting series. I'm suddenly stoked for this series now.

I went with "Great". Not an all time classic, but a very fun opening to the season. Bill was very good, and the Doctor-Nardole-Bill pairing was great. The story was pretty good, with a creepy threat and some great character stuff (including some funny lines). I also liked the callbacks to River and susan, the sonic screwdrivers, and the Movellans (who I've never seen before but I'm always up for more Classic Who references). Hopefully this is representative of how entertaining the whole series will be.

I'd have to look back and compare, but I think this may be the best season opening episode from the Moffat era. There are some arc elements -- what's in the vault and why's the Doctor been there so long, and maybe Heather will be back -- but they beat the hell out of the overcomplicated Impossible Astronaut business, among other things.

I would say it's the best season opener since "The Eleventh Hour," at least.

If the Doctor has been there for 50 years, then he's been ignoring all the other invasions that his younger selves stopped... And seen his own exile where the Master was at large threatening the Earth.

How does Bill not know what a Dalek is?

They killed Harriet Jones.

He doesn't care for repeats. He knows his younger selves will succeed without his help.

The same way people know to kill a Silent as soon as they see one (and then forget about it) - subliminal television reprogramming. UNIT provided the tech they use to mindwipe Companions whenever they come to the Black Archive.

They killed Harriet Jones.

Al Qaeda claimed responsibility.

I wonder if it was all The Twelfth Doctor or if it was many (or all) of his previous incarnations.

Good, as in really good. Liked Bill, and liked that the Doctor's and Nardole's characters seem a little deeper, a little wearier. This season may be quite good, especially compared to the previous 2, and that's a shame because Capaldi deserved so much better before now.

Not a single comment on the Coming Soon?
Who's regenerating?
Classic (and I do mean classic) Cybermen?
Missy?
And a familiar face right at the end???

Also, has he turned off the telepathic translation features on the TARRDIS?

That's one to the ways that UNIT tracks him down.

Is no one trying to learn foreign languages at this university which no longer seem so foreign?

Also...

Nardole has been by 13's side for 50 years... Not ageing a day.

What the #### is he?

It was established back in 2010 that no one remembers them.

Obviously the general public know about are the Cybermen and probably others too. You'll note that in present-day episodes characters never act with with utter incredulity to the idea in general.

Probably because most of us talked about each of those in earlier threads in this forum.

That blank spot in Amy was caused by the cracks, which is three universes ago, and never happened any more.
