New Animated Show: Star Wars: Forces of Destiny

It seemed odd to me that their wasn't any evidence of a Padme story being told. I'm sure she'll be represented, but her omission in the preview was curious.

She was covered so much already in TCW. True, Ahsoka's part of this new thing, but there's more of her story left to tell -- and she's more popular with the target demographic for these, I imagine.

The preview seemed to indicate that Ahsoka and Anakin will share a story, so maybe it takes place during TCW, but I'm hoping for after.

A little disappointed that the Rey story appears to be taking place in between scenes of The Force Awakens. I suppose that they wanted to include BB-8 in the story, but I would have preferred a story of Rey's life before TFA.

Me too, but they probably don't want to spoil anything about her past, which is still a big mystery in the movies.

Fingers crossed Filoni uses the show to fill in a little of Ahsoka's lost time between TCW and Rebels. :)

I'd like to see the story of the Siege of Mandalore that was referenced in the Ahsoka novel, but I guess that's a bit much to ask for in a 3-minute short.

Although it's great to appeal to female fans, we should also encourage the idea that boys are allowed to like female heroes too. These should be for everyone. I gather there's going to be a tie-in line of figures that are sort of halfway between conventional "dolls" and "action figures" in their features, so maybe that's an attempt to go for a less gender-segregated appeal and get both boys and girls to buy the same toys. Which would be a step in the right direction.

Oh yeah, I agree completely I'm a huge Wonder Woman fan, and to be honest it aggravates me how the majority her merchandise seem geared entirely to girls. Pretty much all of the Wonder Woman shirts I've seen are pink women/girls shirts, and the WW fabric we have at the Wal-Mart where I work is covered in pastel stars and rainbows. Even the toys we got for the movie is mostly Barbie style dolls. There are a few WW action figures, but nowhere near the number of figures for Batman or Superman, the other two members of the DC Trinity.

The "Adventure Figures" look, to my eye anyway, like an unfortunate crossing between a Barbie and an old-school GI-Joe.

^Not sure that would line up considering the Leia segment seems to take place on the way from the speeder bike crash site to the Ewok village. The fleet didn't jump in until the next day during the assault on the bunker and the shield would have been up the whole time.
Maybe either she came along with them on the shuttle or she was already there somehow?

I can imagine some ways Hera could be in the Leia/Endor segment without being physically on Endor at the same time. There could be more than one scene set at different times. There could be a flashback to Hera and Leia interacting before Endor. Hera could call in as a hologram, or be in a cutaway scene reacting to the loss of contact with Leia.

I like the idea -- especially the chance of getting more Ahsoka stories. But the animation style in the Rey clip is annoying -- that cheap Flash animation stuff where the character movements are unnaturally jerky and bouncy and 2-dimensional.

It's the 21st century version of Filmation cost-cutting techniques.

Or an event that follows the Ewok celebration. The novels and comics suggest there was still another Imperial outpost on the other side of the planet that needed taking care of shortly after the battle.

But rather the opposite in effect, because the problem is too much movement, in a distractingly bouncy/jerky and unnatural way, rather than too little movement. Maybe it's just a function of what one is used to, but I really dislike the way Flash animation looks.

At 0:38-0:41, is that Padme and the shapeshifter assassin from AOTC? I can't figure out how that scene can fit into the plot of the movie. Maybe it's a later attempt by another member of the same species?

Cool to see Leia and Sabine together. The nature of this series means that there aren't a lot of opportunities for the different protagonists to interact. I guess Ahsoka's the one with the most crossover potential, since she knew Padme in her youth and Phoenix Squadron in her Fulcrum days, and her association with Bail Organa means she probably knew Leia. I suppose it's even possible she and Jyn could've crossed paths at some point, though that would probably strain coincidence. I can imagine Jyn and Leia interacting on Yavin IV sometime during the events of Rogue One, maybe. And maybe there's room for a General Leia/Rey scene set during the final minutes of The Force Awakens.
