A BIG Spoiler Is Coming

One way I could see them do it, is recycling Moffat's idea for series 5 if Tennant signed up, with his regeneration/dying moments being see in the first episode, but throughout the series we see a younger Tennant as the incumbent doctor, before seeing events fold out as to how he ends up in the situation we see him in the first episode. To a degree, I can see parts of this idea being recycled for Capaldi's regeneration.
Ugh, you beat me to it. Great mind think alike, I guess!

I've been cocooned away from Doctor Who stuff. So according to that Graham Norton clip, he's filmed his death scene, but he'll still be around for Christmas....which means he'll survive series 10.

Hmmmm

Surely some timey-wimey stuff lies ahead. But as much of a hallmark as that was with Eleven, Capaldi's incarnation hasn't had the same headache-inducing temporal mechanics as his predecessor, with fewer notable exceptions (Listen, Under the Lake / Before the Flood, etc.). One would think that Moffat wanted to distance the written portrayals of his Doctors by doing that, but it could also be that he'd just run out of ideas for such plots... But he's got a whopper planned for the next regeneration.

Talking with a friend about the fact he'd filmed his regeneration - but was still in Xmas Special was having him regenerate at the end of the season, the new Doctor debuts but - it's a Multi-Doctor story with Twelve and Bill alongside Thirteen for the duration, ending with a literal passing of the torch as Twelve shakes hands with his replacement and leaves him with the literal keys to the TARDIS.
Hm, would be interesting to see both Capaldi's last adventure and the 12th Doctor's first adventure being a multi-doctor one. I'm not sure how I'd feel about that, could be very interesting however.

He didn't do it in Capaldi's first two series, why change with his exit?

Seriously though, thats my main gripe with Capaldi's era, that it felt like a pseudo-serious continuation of Smith's fairytale era, but with less whimsy and more, well, "seriousness". It kinda made sense that Eccleston and Tennant's eras felt the same, as the former had only stayed for one series and you can't have a second series that's drastically different from whats gone previously.

Kind of steals the thunder from the new doctor doesn't it?

I think an ending like "Deep Breath" would work. Maybe the two just wave from afar.

Oh, that is NICE!

Gives me a real Delgado vibe, you know?

Finally, he has a beard.

He looks a fair bit older than his last appearance, which would tie in with him being from after the End of Time (I don't know why anyone was expecting anything else).
Anyone else thinking that little village and whatnot with the Master and Missy are behind that big door from The Pilot? Also noticed Missy seemed to be acting robotic, although that might just be her acting like one again or even just messing around

I wonder if we'll see Rassilon again, early in his last regeneration. Would make sense, since he was not deposed as of yet.

Also, I do have to agree that he seemed like he was dying the last time we saw him on End of Time, so we might get an explanation as to why not only did he survive that apparent death but also was allowed to regenerate after it.

In any case, I'm kinda excited. It feels... big. Though are we for one-episode appearence from him?

How about - when Saxon Master went to Gallifrey with Dalton Rassilon in TEOT which was then stuck behind a time-lock. But the lock ceased to exist following the events of the 50th Anniversary which allowed Gallifrey to relocate to the end of time -

Meaning that Saxon Master was theoretically on Gallifrey at the same point as Dalton Rassilon regenerated into Sumpter Rassilon - and then regenerates, somehow, and escapes to travel back down the Doctor's timeline. I'm hoping to see a Saxon to Missy regeneration.

The Mirror is reporting that David Bradley will be playing the first Doctor in the Christmas special, which will also tie into Capaldi's cameo in "The Day of the Doctor."

It's probably worth pointing out that the original source of that rumour (and several others, like the one about Susan) was one-time genuine spoiler source "doctorstrainers" who admited he made them all up just before deleting his Twitter account. Tellingly the one genuine Spoiler he failed to get was Simm's return.

Ah, sweet. I thought the detail about tying into "Day of the Doctor" was a bit too bizarre to be true. :)
