Ah, sorry to disappoint you, King Daniel Beyond, but in Renegades, Robert Beltran's character is called Cordero (= "lamb" in spanish language -> rather ironic according to his physique! ).
In contrast, there is a similarity between ST: Voyager and Renegades, it's the fact that Beltran's character is in both productions, a man who is considered as an outlaw.
It's a big improvement on the pilot episode, but that could be that it's only 25 minutes long. The "de-Trekking" is as minimal as is humanly possible. Kovok is still Tuvok even though he looks human now, "The Admiral" is still Chekov, Jada is still Jadzia and one of the Archer crew is Nog but has totally different makeup so I didn't realize until he spoke to Jada near the end etc.
The aliens in the bar scene are excellent, with huge DS9 and Doctor Who references. Other than the Icarus and the bar which are proper sets, everything is greenscreen.
Chak is barely in it, and just kinda shows up in a bar randomly at the end.
A few characters from the pilot (including Doc Zimmerman's other half and Fixer) are killed off immediately.
Jadzia is a clone of the original, one of many made by Section 31.

I confess not to have rushed to watch Requiem - part 1 when it was officially released ... though I've contributed financially like other (a bout of madness from my part, I guess but well, the idea of seeing again Farrell/Jadzia -> Jada, Russ/Tuvok -> Kovok, was interesting. In any case, I hope that the acting has improved from the pilot!
I'm intrigued by this Section 31 since I've heard of it in DS9. And then, I have to admit that even if Chakotay was one of the characters I liked the least in ST: Voyager, I was curious about the character (became Cordero in Renegades). Inddeed, as you know, I was pretty sure that according to Chakotay's past , he would NEVER accept to join and serve Starfleet again, so Requiem confirmed my point of view., in a certain way.

Jake Sisko = Jacob Sisko
Some of these names are from the Renegades website, I'm not sure they were all said on-screen in part 1. "Pavel Tolstoy" is from "Pavel" in the flashback and his granddaughter's surname (which may admittedly be different). He's credited only as "The Admiral". There was a wrecked ship in TNG: "Best of Both Worlds" scripted as the USS Chekov, but they decided at the last minute that a reference to Chekov was "too cute" for such a serious scene and renamed it the USS Tolstoy
In the same time, Requiem - like ST: Renegades before - it's a little "War and Peace", so not too much disorientation here!

Llet's hope that the end of part 2 of Requiem looks like a "Resurrection"
Alright, for those who wouldn't have understood, the 3 references quoted in bold, correspond to some Tolstoy's novels!

He will say agreeing to replay Chakotay (became Coldero), not for fans but by friendship for Tim Russ! ;-)
-> anyway, no matter what he may say or think, he owes EVERYTHING (fortune and fame) to his character of Chakotay and to the series, Star Trek: Voyager.
Garrett Wang was ready to re-enlist if Renegades has been retained by CBS! ;-)
He was in Eating Raoul and Night of the Comet long before Voyager. In terms of cult and critical 'fame', he was pretty much set.
Probably appreciates the steady convention cash flow though. And I'm assuming their royalty deal was a bit better than the one that the TOS cast initially had to swallow?
Oh yes, Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, I remember to have watched it to relax after a particular stressing day.... Antway, a garbage, like besides, Star Trek: Renegades (the pilot) and now, Requiem. Seriously, how desperate are these people to appear in these fan-produced films, which looks like more amateur than professional productions, while actors, prducers and directors are known to be professionals, who have proven - or were supposed to have proven - many years ago?!?
OK, there was some actual dialog and not a majority of lensflare action scenes but it was so badly played and directed than it is very difficult to consider seriously these fan produced films!
