Survivor: Game Changers/The Amazing Race (Spring 2017)

Okay... that falls into the category of WTF was he thinking, and why is it anyone's business in the first place?

He says I have transgender friends, I'm on your side! But he mentally connects being trans with being deceitful.

Glad the rest of the tribe reacted appropriately.

I thought he meant Zeke was deceitful because he hadn't told anyone in any of his tribes that he was transgender (if the episode mentioned how Varner knew, I don't recall).

Not clear how he knew but I figure he has some knowledge about transgender biology. He may have spotted some kind of surgery marks when Zeke was in a bathing suit or Zeke may be taking testosterone.

Even if we don't assume the worst, on some level, to use this as an argument that Zeke is deceitful, he must feel like it's a deceitful act for trans people not to identify themselves.

I expect he's going to be asked over and over to explain how he knew and why he outed Zeke. I don't think it's going to make any difference to the game, as in how Zeke is treated. Strategy and votes are strategy and votes.

Remember Audrey from Big Brother? She came to be loathed not for being transgender, but for being annoying past all tolerance... as any cast member can be on any of the CBS shows.

I disagree they didn't want to vote for him. They respected his strategy.
I literally just rewatched this season. David was happy about voting for Rob but the others only did because they couldn't stand Philip (except for Ralph, apparently) and didn't respect Natalie. The Zapatera guys made Andrea sleep on the ground when she showed up at Redemption because relations were that poor between the two tribes...and she was shown to be the nicest of the Ometepes! Grant HATED Rob at the reunion.

seemed like he could have won no matter what the group was, no matter how challenges turned out, no matter how tribes swapped.
Well, he didn't have to contend with any tribe swaps and his tribe had the numbers at the merge. So we'll never actually know.

For the record, if I were ranking seasons I'd put Redemption Island dead last. Not my favorite (that would be S15 China).

Still processing last night's episode. Zeke handled himself incredibly well, and it was nice to see him get all that support from his tribemates. I also thought Jeff Probst did a good job. Varner...made a horrible mistake. I know he must regret it but DAMN.

Wow, such a dick move by Varner! I don't think he's anti-Trans as some idiots are saying I think he just pulled out all the stops to avoid getting voted off and it backfired massively. Obviously didn't think it through. He's gonna have to live with that mistake and so he should.

It was good to see how everyone else reacted though. Like immediately, they were all "what the fuck dude."

Merge next week, time to get greasy!

I think he's intellectually pro-trans but I think he couldn't have said what he said if he didn't have a few subconscious negative attitudes toward trans people. And I think this experience will help him move past them.

To me Thailand is easily the worst Survivor season but One World is close. Colton is the most unpleasant person I've ever seen on TV not currently president. Thailand and One World had the most painfully boring post-merges. Not only inevitable majority-offs, but one where the ones on the bottom were obviously on the bottom and did nothing about it.

Best would be between HvV, Second Chance, Guatemala and the original.

I really wish they'd been able to get Greg to come back. What a shame he couldn't take the time away from his work.

I'm still trying to figure out why Troyzan is even on this. I don't remember him changing anything. The woman who won his season basically just told everyone how things were going to be and the men just said, "Yes, ma'am."

Well, Troyzan was the only man who actually tried to fight back, just he failed to get any of the other men or the women obviously on the bottom to fight back with him.

Greg was one of the people from the first season who went there to try to build a society, not to play a game. I don't think he's interested in the game.

I wonder if Jenna is still mad over the cow remark.

I saw one of Jeff Probst's interviews in which he said they tried to get Greg to come back. He said he would have liked to, but he couldn't take the time off.

And who cares if he's more interested in building a society than the money? That's what made him memorable and fun.

I mean, that's not a reason I wouldn't want to see him again, it's a reason he might be less motivated to come back. I heard a quote from him once, he might go back to Palau Tiga just to see the nature there outside of a TV show context but he wasn't as interested in other Survivor seasons.

Gah, this is why I which they'd nix the U turn permanently. It's basically voting out another team. Amazing Race is not supposed to be Survivor, the slowest team is supposed to be eliminated, not the team somebody decides to screw.

Think I'm officially rooting against Sir Whinesalot.

Make that Team Whinesalot.

What a shame this time around. I had expected that team to have a good shot at the finale.

If you're talking about the most recent episode, the other team that got U-turned was able to complete both challenges and end up in a pretty decent placement.

Think I'm officially rooting against Sir Whinesalot.

Are you talking about the guy who kept complaining about his junk in the harness?

Yeah, other U turned team was spectacular that ep and might be front runners to win. Double U turn isn't as bad as single but still arbitrarily gives multi-hour penalty to two teams more often than not entirely spite motivated. Goes against the spirit of the show. To get a team out you should have to beat them, not just put their picture on a piece of cardboard.

Yeah, Sir Whinesalot is junk guy. That is not the only thing he whined about.

Yeah I know. As much as he complained they should have lost. I've a feeling that teams days are numbered.

One can hope.

Maybe they'll be gone this week. Since it's a two-hour show, I'm hoping that two teams will be eliminated. Mind you, aren't these two-hour ones usually a non-elimination leg?

I'm really pleased with the casting this season on Survivor, they really did bring back many memorable players. Troyzan is slightly less memorable/interesting than the others, but still makes the cut in my book. The one that baffles me is Sierra (not the one voted out early, I mean the one remaining). I honestly can't remember what season she was on or what she did that was so game changing. I'm assuming she's there because they wanted more fit women who look good in bikinis. Every time they do a returnee season I feel like they cast a couple of non-memorable women specifically for this purpose.
