Other ships in Star Trek...

Since the habitable volume of the ship is fairly small, and the disk of the ship takes up such a large proportion of the spaceframe, have you considered doing an experimental warp ring for propulsion?

My idea is that warp ring (or coil) is actually the outermost ring of the saucer. The outer areas of the saucer are too small for habitation anyway.

Are you keeping the internal construction identical as seen to the movie, or using just the external hull as a referent? If you are only using the hull as a referent and not the interior spaces as seen in FP, I assume you probably already have worked out some ideas for the interior, but here's what I came up with on the fly.

And this puy from the original Thunderbirds series in the 60s reminds me of something that the Gorn or Kzinti might do for a shuttlecraft. ;)

I'd like to see a Battleship Orion with augments

I think it would be very entertaining to see an Earth-vintage Orion pulsing it's way across the screen. :) "Mr. Sulu, raise the shields!" ;)
BTW - if you have not checked this out, you may want to give it a look, just scroll down for the information on the Orion-

ThunderGorns are Go!!!

As long as the Gorns are not performed via "Supermarionation", I'm cool with it! ;)

Thunderbird-2 would make a nice Gorn ship--but the Galactica itself--with that alligator look--also would fit.

I can see that slagging Cestus III easy.

I am presently considering a mild redesign of the C57D with the idea of how it might have worked in TOS, but also how it could have been a bit more credibly detailed in the original film.

So no scaling it up then.

The saucer is so razor thin.

I've always wondered about a series of nesting saucers, one atop another atop another--with the C-57 herself as just the bridge.

Visually, it fits perfectly with the FASA Gorn design-aesthetic, and I can see it pounding a Earth colony to rubble with no difficulty at all. With TOS-R and it's almost Starfleet Battles/Amarillo Design Bureau-esque take on the Gorn cruiser though, the TOS-Galactica might need a little "sculpting" to fit in, however your comment reminded me that the Prison Barge would make a suitable Gorn freighter.. LOL.

Somehow I can just imagine this coming over the Universal Translator if the Orions tried to hijack them.. "Yeah, board us, go ahead, you can come over for.. lunch."

But for discussion I would like to ask if there are any designs from other SF of the period (anything up to the late 1960s) anyone might think could have been used as is or modified for TOS.

I'd like to see the design here brought to life:

The largest saucer shape vehicle was a huge rocket--the so-called Bono-Saucer:

This saucer was to be 108 meters across--that's 354 feet wide--wider than the TOS Enterprise saucer

Pop mech did the smaller design
