But from my place as a scientist, what is most remarkable about the show's development is its realism. More than any other TV space-themed show, it gets the science right. It does this because it has to — and that's what makes it interesting. The Expanse imposes constraints on itself that are the real rules of real physics. That's a key point because, in many ways, The Expanse is the first real attempt to map out in TV fiction the "world" we'll face as we begin working our way off Earth.

Got all caught up on Season 2 last week. I've really enjoyed it. The whole Eros sequence was awesome.

Really glad to hear that a 3rd season is coming.

I'm assuming the Big Reveal at the end of the season is being set up to be ...

- the revel of the proto-molecule research lab on Ganymede, possibly ending in their eventual escape from the moon itself.
The remaining episode titles are: E10 - "Cascade", E11 - "Here There Be Dragons", E12 - "The Monster and the Rocket", and E13 - "Caliban's War". Which if you've read the book, then I think they give a pretty good clue as to where the season will end.

I thought for sure the lasagna would've come into play this episode instead of Amos being Amos.

This episode was a bit lackluster like the previous one. These two episodes could've easily been combined into one and be the better for it. However, that probably throws of their timing for reaching the season finale. Hopefully, the show can get back on track with great storytelling. They're obviously just setting stuff up but it's too padded.

Chrisjen stole the show again. The new dynamic with Errinwright (sp?) will be interesting. I thought the nature of the problem on Ganymede was cool. It's not often that the failure of complex systems is described on TV!

Mr Awe

The new dynamic with Errinwright (sp?) will be interesting.

Apparently that is the correct spelling, yes. Up to now, I've been unsure whether that was just his surname, or if he was Aaron Wright.

Anyway, last night was the first time he's remotely interested me as a character. He's just been a one-note corrupt politician up to now, but he's suddenly showing a twinge of conscience, although it seems to come out of the blue.

^ Agree with all of that. Hopefully, this is the start of an interesting new direction. I'm not 100% that he's willing to take the rap for what transpired. In his eyes, he is the one who was betrayed. He just wanted to develop a super weapon to help Earth after all! And, as Chrisjen's aide indicated, she's in a precarious position because she's the only one familiar with the evidence!

I took a look at a tv grid, and I'm seeing the episode titled The Monster and the Rocket listed for April 12. So it seems like everything is right on schedule.

So I really like the cascade idea behind this week's episode. I suspect Ganymede could still be fixed, but it would take a concerted effort to do so, and neither Earth nor Mars are interested in doing that right now. Holden was going to let Amos destroy that guy. And as Naomi said, every shitty thing they do makes the next one easier. And Bobbie literally cascaded down the side of the building like a waterfall, and by the end of the episode, enough doubts and questions had entered her mind that she was on a path that she never could have imagined before.

I do wish Avasarala could have talked to Bobbie longer though. It'll be interesting to see what becomes of Avasarala's new understanding with Errinwright (not the spelling I expected either). The standard cliche is that he's being set up to either betray her or die.

I'm surprised Bobbi didn't suffer multiple fractures in that fall down the building in full Earth gravity. I guess that Osteo-X bone-strengthening stuff really works.

It is important to remember that Martian Marines do train at 1G, so Earth's gravity isn't something completely unbearable to them. That said, I agree the show is overdoing it with Bobbie's resilience.

Also, I don't like how the show is making Bobbie so easily manipulated by her superiors and made their pawn. The character in the novels would already be sitting in Avasarala's office after telling the Martian higher-ups to fuck off, and maybe kicking a few asses just for good measure.

I forgot about the training in 1G thing. And she IS a Marine. Makes it a little easier to accept her managing all that physical activity when she weighs THREE TIMES what she should be used to. But only a little easier. Then again, most show just completely ignore gravity differences all together, so at least they're trying.

I LOVED the zero-G drinking ballet!

Now you've gone and made me try to do math.
38%, carry the... over... 2.6315789...
Okay, 2.6-ish times. :)
So me in a 2.6G field, I'd weigh 494 lbs.
So Bobbi looks, what, 130 lbs? So she's used to feeling 49.4 lbs. on Mars.
It'd be like trying to run around while carrying another smallish person on each shoulder.

I LOVED the zero-G drinking ballet!
Oh, you mean Alex with his energy drinks while listening to country music? Yeah, it was a cool sequence, but to be honest, I was distracted by the fact the energy drinks were in ordinary cans. Why didn't they just by it in "bulbs" which are more friendly for 0G?

Yeah, it was a cool sequence, but to be honest, I was distracted by the fact the energy drinks were in ordinary cans.

Yeah, that annoyed me when they did it in season 1 too. It just doesn't make sense. Although they've had worse design issues in the show, like putting drip coffee makers in a spaceship that's often in free fall.

At least they went to the little extra of having him clamp his hand over the top of the can to keep the drink from floating out. But there's no way tipping the can back to take a swig would work.
