CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

So returning to the porn thing:
The production studio + Marc Cushman (also a porn/'adult' film producer) + the defendant organizing his ST Book crowdfund + Mr. Cushman donating X% to the defendant's production

Maybe all that information mashed up into a porn movie rumored made at the studio?
Oh, it wasn't a full blown* porn movie, but like a single set-up scene, I thought like an imaginary awards show, but maybe I am mixing it up with something else.

*sorry

The money thing remans a mystery to me.
...
I'd actually forgotten about that and I find it odd that it's another injection of cash thats just vanished from record keeping.

At this point, looking for accounting in this project is like looking for indian heads in your change pocket. Or maybe halfpennies.

Please, do take back that *sorry. :) I have no more information on this than you do and was only pulling together 'pieces' of perhaps disparate information while thinking out loud to you about what you posted.

Wait a minute.....

There 'was' something like that filmed! You may indeed be correct!

I mean about an imaginary (or something) awards red carpet like thing filmed there. I remember it. Maybe back during the Valkyrie Studio days? At this time I do not have real information that camera picture I saw of it indicated it was actually filmed at the studio or information if that was, it was filmed there with or without monetary compensation for the space. Nor do I remember 'who'/'what' the imaginary awards were for.

So for a minimum of 500k of money the studio produced one trailer and one imagnary awards show.... and still people like Lane try to claim that building a studio was cheaper.

I think the only person really making any use of the studio is RMB who has been using the editing bay to edit 3 feature length films that have no relation to axanar.

I know, right?!
The edit bay is now wrapping up the edit of its third, feature-length movie.

I was just this minute working out the numbers on this (trying to) because I was just looking at some of the transcription of the January 4, 2015 official production podcast #15 Stepping Into Eden.
A little after 03:15:
defendantGarth: "And it's real exciting. It's 16,000sq.ft. The Only Drawback to this facility is that the Warehouse Portion Is Not Airconditioned. However, it's $3,000 a month less than the fully airconditioned facility we saw that we had put an offer in a few weeks ago. So, there's $36,000 a year that will enable us to either buy and airconditioning unit or rent an airconditioning unit."

And I was thinking, okay, that's 24 months X $3,000 = $36,000 [uh no, EDIT: 3,000 X 24 = $72,000] saved to purchase the AC (or rent). I'm finding huge prices for an AC unit that handles an 11,000 sq ft + 20'? more? high space from back in 2009 and not in Valencia CA.... $33,000 - $44,000 2009 prices. Which would be (yes, there is an internet calculator for this) $37,000 - $50,000 2015 prices, plus tax ($3K - $7K), plus higher dollar Valencia CA prices. But a savings is conceivable in renting or purchasing, cost of installation (thousands), and *other*. How much? Not sure.

Then I got to laughing when I read this part:
05:59:
defendantGarth: "If we wanted to 'rent' a soundstage it would have cost us $35,000 a month. We would have gotten a little discount for the prep time but it would have taken us two months to build and a month to shoot so, and then we'd have to break all those sets down or ship them, so we would have been in for about $150,000 for three months. Now compare that to what we're doing"
Right. Let's see, that's 26 months gone, $1,400,000 gone, no completed sets to own, no movie, new possible costs for relocating.

Well, hindsight seems to indicate the $150,000 rental would have been a better business move.

The movie would have been completed long before CBS/P decided to put their collective feet down on it. Awards would have already been bestowed. Full completed sets would have been owned. Big bucks left from the crowdfunding for a permanent home for the studio outside of that 30 Mile Zone. Or even in Georgia. Fan film productions could already be in full swing. A fan film school could be going great guns. Conventions could already be being held.

Well, remember - said trailer (IE "THe Vulcan Scene") wasn't filmed AT/IN the Studio proper; it was filmed in the parking lot of thwe Studio/Warehouse grounds. They could have done it at nearly any back area of any seldom used parking lot.

Renting someone else's studio means you don't get to have your own office with new carpet and movie stars milling about. Livin' the Dream of Axanar means you get the best - brand new offices, studio and equipment. It's not your money so who cares if it goes bust?

I meant the trailer for the Guinan fan film that was supposedly filmed there.

What amazes me is that after burning at a minimum $500k on this studio that in hindsight was a bad idea he now wants to relocate it somewhere else. Why double down on the insanity? Close the studio.. you don't need it to make axanar anymore and make the freaking film.

So "its really exciting" and "compare that [renting] with what we are doing".

Yet.. its all Christian's fault that they wanted to buy a place. Alec was never behind it.

That Christian, I'll tell ya. He has a lot to answer for. ..... He did already? Where? 21:16? I'll go get it, brb.....

21:16 through 23:35

But he is making the film. In 60 days. And it will be the best film ever. Right after this fundraiser. In 60 days, right after they finish the soundproofing. You're gonna be so impressed, the quality is amazing. And the electrical. They just have to get the electrical up to code, and that might take another fundraiser. But they're 60 days away, right after that. And hey, I heard that they just signed that guy from that show to be in it, and it's gonna be spectacular. Oh, the toilets need replacing. But then, filming starts in 60 days. For sure this time, and nothing has ever been this awesome in the history of awesomeness. Oh no, the cat's run off. They have to replace the cat, so just one more fundraiser. And the locked script is the best script ever written, but someone spilled Jameson's on it and the printer's out of ink.

But seriously, filming starts in 60 days. :techman:

I notice that the tone of Alec's posts for the last couple of days is very much bracing the faithful for them having to move location. Aside from one post about a great meeting with their landlord (big announcement coming soon).

Of course it makes sense that they'll have to move. If only because Alec is using the space for Propworx so he'd need a warehouse for that anyway.

And to the talk of RMB using the editing bay for his own work, I wonder if he pays anything towards the rent?

I was told to come here and say Alec Peters sucks, so
