Dear people who may be considering whether or not to donate to the 'Support the Studio' IndieGoGo crowdfund going on at this time, please consider researching for accuracy the following statements made by the defendant in the production's website post, March 21, 2017, named 'Support the Studio You Built!'
"When the CBS lawsuit hit, we had to shut down production on Axanar for the over 13 months till we settled."
While I do think shutting down the production during the litigation was a wise judgment call, no such shutdown of the production itself was required by any Court decision. Nor was the separate studio itself required to shut down.
At various times while over the year of litigation it was announced to we donors that 'there is a group of fan investors who wish to remain anonymous who are reimbursing the donor funds used in the build out of the warehouse to make it a studio' and that this anonymous investor group was 'taking over the monthly rental & operation costs so our donor funds would not be spent there' and that 'the new holders of the studio would be renting out the studio to film productions to cover the operating costs.'
Please. Do consider researching the accuracy of the above statement made by the defendant
If you will, please also consider researching the accuracy of this statement:
"When the CBS lawsuit hit, we had to shut down production on Axanar for the over 13 months till we settled.". You can find everything needed for your research in various official production website posts.
Consider taking just a little bit of time to research this statement too.
"So ultimately the lawsuit cost donors over $ 200,000 in lost rent/utilities."
On the official production website the defendant announced the anonymous 'investor group' was taking on the studio and reimbursing the build out funds to the production - which would have been a very good thing and not contingent on the lawsuit. However, there is no known confirmation this announced process ever happened. And evidence it did not happen due to later postings from the defendant he was spending his own money to cover the rent after the donor funds ran out.
And at the same time studio itself was also being publicly advertised on its own website, Industry Studios, that it was available and a great space for productions looking for a studio to rent. The monthly operation costs, that $200,000, would have been covered were the public choosing to rent the studio. It was being offered for rent, advertised for rent, we donors were told the studio was now a rental studio. Was the studio successful in being rented out?
"And we don’t want to lose the almost $ 300,000 we have invested in this facility in improvements to make it a functioning sound stage.
I agree. At several points during the year of the lawsuit the defendant announced this was all taken care of by the anonymous investor group that was going to, then had taken over the sound stage. The $300,000 was to be reimbursed when taking over the studio for public rentals. The studio became an advertised public rental. We donors were not told this $300,000 reimbursement did not occur.
Just, please, do a tiny bit of research on the official production website and the official Industry Studios website and see what you think yourself.
"If the lawsuit had never be filed, Axanar would have been finished last year"
All I'm imploring you to do is just research the accuracy of these statements a little bit.
If everything you research is to your own satisfaction and you choose to donate to this current crowdfund, you will have made your own informed decision to do so.
Which I will fully support. Not that 'you' need my support for anything you choose to do in this matter. But I will anyway.
