What is your favorite unused concept art?

Off hand, I don't think I've seen one I liked so much it became a favorite. I've seen, off hand, a couple I liked.

I can't recall what it looks like now, but I remember seeign a scetch for a large Federation ship (the U.S.S. Titan?) that was going to be Riker's ship, that was going to get destroyed in the Borg battle in the opening of First Contact.

There was also a ship, I think I saw it in a Trek book with concept art, that kind of looked liek it was from the Excelsior class period, had Enterprise E-like nacelles, and at the front of the saucer (it was a top angle view of the ship) it was indented like a box, only the sideswere pointed outward at angles.

I was flipping through the Sketch Book for the first two TNG films and I saw a small sketch idea for the Enterprise E that had an itneresting design idea: flat angled out fans nacelles. Reminds me of something I did with a ship I built.

It also reminds me: every single sketch for the Enterprise E, was ugly. All of them. The shi pwas doomed from the beginning. Then the artist(?) commented on get an approval on the ideas or a pass. As I recall, it was once again Berman's fault. This guy couldn't stop himself.
Could one of those be the Goodson class? http://www.neutralzone.de/database/Federation/Other/_GoodsonClass_NCC-7105.gif

I was flipping through the Sketch Book for the first two TNG films...

That line reminded me of one of the sketches in that book I loved; a small ship with a flat arrowhead style primary hull, long nacelles and pods attached to the sides of the secondary hull. I can't remember if it had a name, just a registration (NCC-7105) but it was a nice concept sketch that would have fit in nicely to the FC era, or even Voyager.

You mean this one I posted earlier? Same registration.

Not many concept arts that I think are better, but one that always stuck in my mind was a earlier version of DS9's Defiant.

I like this one better than the Shampoo Bottle looking hull they ended up with.

IIRC didn't they show this to be the ship Mirror-Sisko flew? I don't remember if it was shown on screen or just a diagram on a monitor...

Andrew Probert's original design for the Ambassador class. I didn't think too much of it until I saw the Trekyards episode about it and realized just how beautiful it was. I'd love to see it in Star Trek Online.

Doug Drexler's NX-refit from Enterprise. A nice bridge between Enterprise and TOS for me.

Did they? I honestly can't remember. Which episode? In season 3 the mirror Defiant is the same I think.

But yeah, it is a better design than the final version.

Smiley O'Brian recreated the Defiant for the Mirror Universe which looked identical- missed opportunity there to have it is just shiny metal or a patchwork of different materials- something that looked like a major shipyard was not involved in it's creation.

It has been ages since I saw the shows- the DS-9 Mirror episodes are not my favorite, but I think it was the show where Sisko has cross over and replace mirror-Sisko. I do not think a model was made, it might have just appeared on a monitor as a diagram.

"Crossover" would be the episode introducing Mirror Sisko, but his ship is not seen. Since we see an establishing shot of the Mirror station and there are no ships docked, we might have to deduce Mirror Sisko flew a ship that was small enough to be inside the runabout bays or hiding behind the station. But there's no doubt he came in a ship of his own, and that the ship remains at the station, as he asks Smiley to repair "his" impulse coil.

This for me as well. I'd LOVE to see Probert's Ambassador-class prototype see some more love. It fit the 24th Century style so perfectly. In Star Trek Online it could possibly be a T6 variant of the Ambassador-class. The Excelsior has a T6 variant at this point... Hell there's even a T6 TOS Connie variant now. Ambassador-class needs more love in general in that game.

Also love Doug's NX-refit. Behold!

(Also a T6, while we're pointing things out...)

Also, I guess it's technically not concept art, but I've always wanted to see a full New Orleans-class starship appear on-screen. It technically appeared as debris in the Wolf 359 aftermath, so I suppose it's not concept art, but it's never been fully realized on-screen, and some of the fan renders I've seen of it make it look like a great TNG-era "workhorse" sort of starship. Way more fitting than the Miranda-class that they kept on bringing back on DS9.

Was it one of these classes? Kit-bashes from Wolf 359:
