Wasn't Peter Graves a bit miffed about what they did to Phelps in the first movie?
I'd be fine with Amy Acker coming on board as the new boss

Which is why he turned down their offer to play Phelps in the movie. Which is why they cast Jon Voight instead, which is why it's ambiguous whether the movie is in continuity with the series or not. You can believe it is or isn't, as you prefer. Few people want to believe it's the real Jim Phelps, and it's just as easy to believe it's an alternate-universe version as it is to believe it's an impostor.
If they did that, Sarah would probably be a more "hands on" boss. I can't really see her becoming taking a paper pushing/desk job. I'm fine with the idea, but don't want to see Jack/Sarah will they/won't they playing out.OMG yes Amy is awesome

This is odd because CBS really was excited and touted Sandrine's casting to help promote the series. And there were a couple of instances where Thornton went above and beyond to save the team and put her life in danger which now don't make sense if she's just a mole who is out for herself and for $$$. I'd love to know the behind the scenes reasoning of all this.
I stopped watching the new MacGyver so is Thornton definitely a mole and definitely out, or is this a case of possible misdirection?
I would love Thornton being a double mole just for the shere insanity of that twist.
Phrasing!?! Seriously, are we not doing phrasing anymore? From the little we saw
