A new news article has been published at TrekToday:

Last month, TrekToday reported on the re-release of all seven seasons of Deep Space Nine in one set here, and now some...

Typically irritating melange of publicity shots inappropriate to the season - first season Odo and O'Brien being especially obvious. And no Bashir on the full series set.

I enjoyed this conversation about DS9 DVD art the first time we had it...THIRTEEN YEARS AGO! Back when DVDs were a thing.

I didn't have the money to invest in the outrageous prices for DS9 when it first came to DVD. Obviously, I would prefer a blu-ray remaster but I look forward to finally being able to own DS9 on DVD. I hope that it sells well enough to warrant them investing in a remaster.

Well, also sales from DVDs rereleased over a decade later with the only update being another merch designer's take on the packaging isn't a good forecast for potential/hypothetical BD sales. I mean, unless Mike Okuda hints at that possibility in a tweet or something. Then I'll definitely believe it.

At this point, just Netflix it. Unless you're concerned about watching it after a nuclear apocalypse, I would gladly pay $10 a month rather than $100 or whatever fan fleecing amount they're charging for it.

My first post here since Enterprise to say No, I'm not buying this. I've happily bought all the TNG & TOS blu-rays and want all of the series. Re-master them and put them out on proper blu-rays and then DO THE EXACT SAME THING FOR VOYAGER. This DVD bullsh*t is idiotic. I don't buy DVDS anymore. I don't care about the boxart. I want the Dominion War in HD! Why is this so difficult for CBS to understand? Spend the damn money and preserve the shows for the future.

Some people prefer to own a show rather than rent it.

I can understand the interest in owning the show if you really like it. At the same time, I really like TNG, but am satisfied to stream it as the interest in watching it hits me. It still remains an issue that fans of the franchise get bilked out of an extraordinary amount of money to own copies of a show. This is not the era of VHS. Even in those days, the amounts of money they charged for an episode let alone a complete season of any show were overinflated. However, Star Trek remains a franchise where the idea is, to paraphrase Goodfellas with softer language "Screw you, pay me." There really is no reason that a season of any show in Star Trek should not cost around $10.

I've probably watched every episode of DS9 20 times on my DVDs. And more, for my favorite episodes. I got my money's worth compared to streaming. I might buy the set again, just because my boxes are pretty much in tatters.

But I still want the HD. Skip to 4k, please, CBS.

The packaging on the original release was so horrible, I certainly hope this release is more durable.

However, that doesn't mean I intend to buy this if it's simply the same product repackaged.
