Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

However, the two in charge do sound autotuned like Goul'd from Stargate, and they called Mon-El "Mon-El of Daxam" which is a weird thing to call him if they are also from Daxam. I mean, did all the other Cimmerians call Conan: Conan The Cimmerian?

My friends all call me Steve of Earth. But really, the oddest part of that is that my name isn't Steve.

Unlikely, since they were humanoid (i.e. actors in costume), and the Dominators are pure CGI. Also, they spoke verbally and the Dominators only seem to speak telepathically. Also, these Dominators, like many fictional aliens, are nudists. The producers originally planned on giving them the green robes they wore in the comics, but once they decided to go full CGI, it proved too difficult to animate the fabric of the robes.
Actually, the Dominators are not pure CGI.
They use full body prosthetics as well.

Just thought about Alex coming out to her mom... this just seems kinda preachy...not really dramatic. Unless Alex has had conversations with her mom and Kara about sex & who she's attracted to, and for whatever reason made it seem clear like she was hetereosexual, what exactly is she worried about? It's a real lack of drama...either Kara or her mom , for an episode or two at least, could at leas feel a little 'betrayed" , feeling like they were lied to for a bit..and then can resolve in the next episode.
And certainly no drama/tension of someone who might have their own moral objections to homosexuality, but learns to overcome it. It'd be dramatically original to have someone who's against homosexuality who then either is not a raging homophobe and/or secretly gay themselves. It would be a first to see on TV someone who objects yet still cares about the person.

The tension between Cisco and Barry seems to have more long lasting dramatic effect than Alex's situation.

And yeah, the resolution to J'Onn J'onzz -- a little too convenient.

I'm just paraphrasing Marc Guggenheim:

http://www.cbr.com/guggenheim-kreisberg-explain-invasion-dominators-cw-crossover/
“We originally had designed Dominators with the green robes that were very iconic of the comic,” Guggenheim said. “When we decided to do all the Dominators full CG, the robes had to go away, because the presence of the robes made animating them prohibitively impossible.”

Barry's actions caused Cisco to lose his brother.
Alex is just gay.

One's a valid reason to be upset at somebody, the other is not.

...and that was the only point to that scene--to be preachy from that well-worn soapbox. The same applies to the poorly plotted immigration story and the several anti-Trump-like characters or dialogue from both seasons.

You're describing realistic reactions some have to a relative suddenly announcing that they are gay. But the showrunners' agenda will never have the lead character (or even a supporting character) mirror that kind of feeling about Alex, as it would fly in the face of the series' push to paint its lead as accepting of any idea that represents the showrunners' personal interests.

They will not "risk" Supergirl coming from a place where she considered herself and her sister heterosexual, then feel Alex has somehow--as you put it--"betrayed" her with this revelation that came out of nowhere. That being another failing of the weak writing staff, as the 1st season never hinted at it in any sense.

You will never see that in this series--it has to be "all in"--since the showrunners are not interested in any alternative view without stereotyping the person holding that view as some cartoony, oppressive beast.

And yeah, the resolution to J'Onn J'onzz -- a little too convenient.

Agreed. It was pointless to even have the transfusion--just so it would lead to yet another thin comment on divisions between people from J'Onn's homeworld. Kara's mother whipping up a solution to help J'Onn was plotting convenience 101.

And plotting convenience 102 is knocking the bad guy out, then turning to either check on your injured friend or have a philosophical conversation regarding the plot, while the bad guy uses that time to wake up and slip away unnoticed.

Keep your eyes on the murdering lunatic, dammit!

They'll be introducing Mr. Mxyzptlk sometime during the 2017 portion of the season. All that's been announced so far is that he'll be in two episodes, there's been no word yet on what role he'll play in the story or who'll be playing him.

I know it doesn't really make sense, but I think it would be hilarious if Gilbert Gottfried played him. It probably wouldn't make sense for live action, but he was great as the character in the animated series and his voice just works very well for the character.

If they want to go for stunt casting, and they love their stunt casting, maybe John DeLancie as Mxy?

Here he is in live-action...

Bonus points if they get John De Lancie since, let's face it, this character is basically Q with a tiny bowler hat.

ETA: Damn you Greg Cox you casting suggestion ninja! ;)
I saw the clip and the first thing that immediately came to mind was Farscape's ravenging angel for some reason.

Yeah, I was kinda expecting something more substantial to come form that.
I figured J'onn would struggle a bit more to control his White Martian nature, realize what it was like for M'gann to overcome that, which would lead to a new and better understanding between them. Instead he was cured as an afterthought and M'gann, who's still rotting in jail for helping him, wasn't even mentioned...

Had a thought:

Indigo - Brainiac 8
Livewire
Silver Banshee
Metallo
Mxyzsptlk
Parasite
Toyman
C̶y̶b̶o̶r̶g̶ ̶S̶u̶p̶e̶r̶m̶a̶n̶

If the bulk of Superman's rogue's gallery is only just now making their debut, what has Superman himself been doing for the past decades? Cat and mouse with Lex Luthor?

You left out Bizarro. Also, we don't know if Mxyzptlk should be on the list; there's nothing in the press release saying that Superman hasn't encountered him before.

We know Superman's gone up against Luthor and Reactron, though he somehow never beat Reactron. He could've gone up against the original Brainiac. Zod is a possibility too, as are Darkseid and Intergang.

Or maybe he's just spent his career mostly going up against gangsters, corrupt politicians, and mad scientists, like George Reeves. Or it could've been like season 1 of Lois & Clark, where Luthor was the only comics villain he dealt with.

Yeah i agree with that and also do Alex and Kara know about J'onn locking up M'Gann. After Maxwell Lord you'd think if they knew they'd be vocal and have an option on this. It was an missed opportunity to give J'onn some more insight into the White Martians and a good story arc to strengthen the bond he and M'gann have in the comics. Seeing what she has to control and getting a better perspective of the white martian race could be what turns him sympathetic towards her and creates that bond between them.

Also J'onn needs to start winning some of his fights. Other than blindsiding Jemm, knocking Red k Kara down and ripping Indigo in half all his other fights he's done what his comic counterpart does best and jobs
