Your Pet Celebrity Hate

Is there a famous person out there who you just plain despise? I don't mean for moral or political reasons, or in any way related to them doing harm to other human beings, animals or the world in general. Just for some reason, everything they do annoys the hell out of you.

For me this would be Bruno Mars. Every thing he does, every song, every lyric, every dance, every pose, every small gesture is so cheesy-trendy and gimmicky. He seems like he was designed by hip parents trying to make something their middle school aged kids will think is cool. I just look at him and I instinctually want to punch him.

Anyone else have a 'Pet celebrity hate'?

For some reason I have always disliked Leonardo DiCaprio. I agree about the Kardashian family. I wish they'd just vanish into obscurity.

If they arise strong emotions in us, it means they've won. Exactly like your typical schoolyard bully. So the greatest way we can retaliate against them is to be indifferent.

For simply being (IMPO) annoying and unlikable?
Will Farrell. Not even a little bit funny. I can't imagine how anyone could think so.
Jim Carrey. Thought he was kinda funny when he started out, soon came to realize he's the drunk kid at the party who thinks he's hysterically funny, but all you want to do is throw him out.

For political/philosophical triggers?
Rosie O'Donnell and Marky Mark Wahlberg.

^ Well if we're gonna talk politics, that's a hopeless battle right there...I can't afford to hate every celebrity who disagrees with me politically, 'cos then I'd have no one left to like (since there are vanishingly few Republican actors).

When it comes to celebrities (both famous and less famous), in general the vast majority fall into the "all talk, no action" (or "all hat, no cow", etc ...) when it comes to stuff outside of their expertise.

Even when it comes to stuff within their expertise, I'm usually skeptical unless what they say either turns into something concrete and/or it can be independently verified to be not off the mark.


Most of my skepticism about what people say, dates back to when I use be a bartender. In practice, one of the bartender's duties is being an "unofficial therapist". All kinds of crazy talk between patrons and the bartender, with increasing verbosity with more drinks.

Celebrity proclamations are like politicians promises and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Well, I hesitate to use the word hate, as that's a rather strong word, but dislike? Sure.

Agreed on both counts. Stranger Than Fiction was Will Farrell's standout movie, moreso because it's a drama rather than a comedy. Jim Carrey's shtick wore out a long time ago and he hasn't evolved his style as he got older.

The "comedian" that I feel this way about is Kevin Hart. I don't hate him but he doesn't amuse me in the slightest.
