Scruffy-looking untitled Han Solo film thread

This doesn't necessarily mean Sana is off the table. They're not saying what Clarke's role will be, only that she will "round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures."

For all we know she could be in a supporting role, maybe even an antagonist. She can certainly do an the accent they usually like for Imperial officers.

I think by this point Star Wars has grown out of the idea that they can only have one female character per movie, so there's no reason to just assume Clarke is the love interest.
I honestly would enjoy her role more if she wasn't the love interest.

Clarke is one of my favorite cast members on GoT, so I'm really happy she'll be in this.

I do wonder if it may be the smart move for her movie career at this point. After all, Terminator must have been a bit of a setback and Hollywood seems to have a low failure tolerance for leading ladies. So perhaps a villain role in a successful film (which this is all but guaranteed to be) will help raise her profile without saddling her as a romantic lead typecasting. Also, female villain roles come up so seldom, it would get her attention on that alone.

You have no idea how much the thought of seeing Emilia Clarke dressed in an Imperial officer's uniform is exciting me right now.

Now that I think about it, she's about the right size for a TIE pilot. That could be interesting and a logical antagonist for a smuggler.

If given the choice I would definitely be more interested in seeing her as a villain than as a love interest.

Maybe she can get Jason Momoa a slot too ;)

I don't especially care for Clarke's performance style and her over-expressive eyebrows in GoT, but the idea of her as an Imperial villain does have a certain allure to it.

While Chewie and Lando are of course confirmed, I wonder if we'll also see some other characters from Han's past-Jabba, Greedo, or Maz perhaps? I think Fett is pretty much a given....

Also if Jabba shows up if they'll go practical or CG, since the Disney films seem to be a mix of the two. While the 1997 Jabba was pretty crappy, the TPM and 2004 versions looked okay...

If they di Jabba, and they already have the 2004 CG model on film, they'll probably just use that, depending on any needed interaction with the Hutt.

Why do people keep assuming Boba Fett is going to be in this? The rivalry thing was an invention of the EU and only then *after* he got out of the Sarlacc IIRC.

Generally speaking, smugglers don't have much reason to have rivalries with bounty hunters. They may move in similar circles but their jobs run along totally different lines. Fett only became interested in Solo after both Vader and Jabba had a contract out on him. The only true rivals of Boba that we know about were Mace Windu and to a lesser extent, Ventress, both of whom are dead (probably.)

For Han's part, I think it's clear his rival is going to be Lando. Those two are frenemies, through and through.

As for Woody Harrelson: it's just an internet rumour, so I'm not about to hold my breath. That said, I can absolutely see him doing a larger than life Booster Terrik or Hondo Ohnaka type rogue.

A Booster Terrik would be fine, though I'd love to see the charisma of a Hondo Ohnaka type.

They'd do well to improve on the 2004 version. I appreciated it at the time as a stopgap fix for the awfulness of the 1997 version but there's still room for improvement.
