Riker and the "Shoulder Check"

As much as I love Will Riker, I've come to the conclusion after years of TNG watching, that he is one of those guys.

When walking towards him, you better give him a wide berth, or you're going to get shoulder checked.

Study the scenes when he is walking down the Enterprise corridors. He is a centimeter away from bumping into oncoming human traffic, should there be any.

There's another thread about this, but I can't find it right away. Apparently Jonathon Frakes was injured which caused him to walk like that. It's also part of the Star Trek drinking game: you take a drink every time he walks like he's going to knock down a door with his forehead.

Yeah, it's part of Frake's old back injury he got from before he was on Star Trek. Same reason he does that funky "saloon bar" thing where he steps over chairs to sit on them. I kind of think both things work as part of the character. Things like these, and the leaning on consoles, and the 'skunk eye' thing he often did.

Is this also the reason why Riker is kind of an asshat in the early seasons? I mean, there are times when he straight up yells at the Captain. If he was my subordinate I'd discipline him so fast he'd thought I shot him out an airlock towards Starbase "Shut up, now you're an Ensign!".
