My comment was towards the thread in general and not your post specifically, but countering it with more disturbing incidents is missing the point. Do you believe violent protests and disturbing attacks are a good thing because now they align with one side over the other?

Shouldn't we have the same expectation for the other side to condemn that behavior because right now I don't really see it.

We have a saying over her, nor sure if you guys stateside will be familiar with it.
It's called whataboutery. It's used when someone is faced with an argument they don't like and numerous examples of incidents they can't seem to condemn.

So instead of condemning, they see fit to bring up other bad things happening in the world despite having little relevance, all the while refusing to see the evidence staring them in the face.

Aye, but what about this eh ?

And what about that as well ?

This was posted in a private Facebook group today. Unfortunately, it is not the only horror story I have heard today. (The emphasis is mine.)

"I’m a cancer researcher and physician, here at National Harbor, D.C., for the Society of Immunotherapy for Cancer conference. Late this morning, I was out for a jog along the walking path and, as I passed a group of men (there were 3 of them) eating their lunches outside the McDonald's beside the route, one of them yelled "Who owns your pussy now?"
"I wish I could have given them an earful. But I did not. I could not. I was too stunned, and working too hard to hold back the choking sobs as tears came streaming down my face. I just told myself to keep running. I told myself to not let this stop me from what I wanted, which was a moment of respite.
"But, my mind is replaying the incident over and over again and I keep thinking about what I wish I had said....what I wish I could have thought of in that moment to shut it down and jog away victorious. But that's not what happened. I ran a little longer hoping that, on my way back to my hotel (I would have to run by that spot again), that they would be gone. And, I feel bad about that, too....that I let them get to me and that I couldn't just summon whatever it was that I needed to summon to face them on the way back if I had to. I just didn't have it in me today
"We need to call upon every person who is a decent human being to speak out whenever this kind of thing happens in their presence. It was only one voice that shouted from those 3 men…..and I can’t help but wonder….what if one of his buddies said “Dude, stop being an asshole. That was not okay. What the Hell is wrong with you?”
"Part of living in a free society is the ability to freely express our ideas, no matter how aweful (unless one is inciting violence and seeking to infringe upon another's civil rights). I don’t think it would be right for us to use policing or government to stop this kind of thing. It is up to each and every one of us to let people who believe that this kind of behavior is OK, to know that We The People reject them. We The People must teach all of our sons what it means to be a real man. Real men don't do this, nor do they allow it to happen in their presence. We The People are the only thing that will stop this. We The [Decent] People will prevail.
"P.S. I have been asked whether it is OK to share this post. Thank you all for asking and Yes, please do feel free to share. And please do not worry about identification. I am okay with being identified. These experiences are more real to those who would not believe them if there isn't a face, or a name. I am okay with being identified. Again, thank you all for your caring and support. I've really needed it today."

What scares me the most is not what Trump himself says and does, but the permission that he has given others to say and do despicable things. As a woman... with a disability... who has been raped... who is a Jew by ancestry... who lives on a street with four neighbors who fly Confederate battle flags (until about a year ago, there was only one)... whose friends and family are a motley crew of races, religions, and ethnicities... I am terrified.

Buy a gun, learn how to use it this is the only language such people understand. If anyone steps to you to try anything violent , let them chew the bullet and claim 'Stand your ground'.

I guess that is a good mantra if you want to turn a blind eye to events that don't fit your argument and just flat out ignore them.

And protests aren't going to convince anyone but will just feed into the media, while disrupting businesses, hurting everyone.

Don't any of you remember how Picard brokered treaties and opened minds? it's certainly not by coming into situations with a warlike mentality and repeating chants..

Yeah, I remember how Picard went to the Romulans and said, "listen, we're gonna build a wall, a yuuuuge wall, it'll be the best wall, and I'm gonna make Romulus pay for it!"

You poor little snowflakes. To quote Obama: “I won, deal with it”.

The Democrat Party lost 900 seats in the 2010 election. In 2014, the next set of midterms, the Democrats lost another 700 seats. We have been governed by a minority with the illusion by the elite media that they are the majority. We are tired of being called racists, homophobe, islamophobe, religious fanatics, and the uneducated by people who hate America, the elite media, idiot Hollywood actors, and people who disagree with us.

Hillary had to steal her own nomination from Bernie Sanders. They nominated a criminal pathological liar with zero charisma who has made a mess of everything she has touched. A few in the press get it but dammed few and even less of the spoiled intolerant Hillary supporters do. This is fine with me as they have over played their hand and now it's their time to wonder in the wilderness. I say no reaching "across" the isle. Bury them while they are down.

The end of Obamacare

The end of the unrestricted murder of the unborn

The end of criminal illegal aliens murdering our citizens and hiding out in sanctuary cities

The end of the war on American Energy

The end of suing nuns over birth control

The end of murdering the police

The end of forcing schools to have boys in girls showers

The end of Global warming BS

I could go on but you get the point.
You must find the Star Trek universe deplorable unless its the Klingon Empire you favour lol

I have read that people think that Trump will be bad to non-white people. This how analyze what Trump has said about various minorities:

Hispanics: He was calling illegal immigrants rapists, drug dealers and criminals. This doesn't describe all Hispanics, just illegal Mexican immigrants, and even then, that doesn't describe all illegal immigrants. In summary, he is only against illegal immigration.

African-Americans: He really hasn't said anything bad about them. However, he has said that he supports stop and frisk, which some critics could argue as racial profiling, and it would likely lead to it.

Muslims: Initially, he said he would prevent all Muslims from entering this country. However, at the debates he said that he would instead support extreme vetting, which I think is the best option.

LGBT: This is a group that he really hasn't talked about. As a result, I think that their rights are safe. Also, it should be remembered that a major Trump supporter who spoke at the Convention was Milo Yiannopoulos, who is gay.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Trump plans to cut corporate taxes to get companies to build factories, especially in cities like Detroit, and this will help bring jobs to not just not white people, but all people.

Rational mindset of not approraching with a warlike mentality is met with mockery.

He wants to deport ~12 million people. I'll give you a little hint on this: there is no humane way to undertake such a massive operation. So he will either have to give up on that pretty quickly, or we'll be seeing a lot more misery.

And how easy do you think it is to spot an undocumented immigrant? Do you think they wear hats announcing it? They don't. This means Latinos and anyone mistaken for being one is likely to be harassed and abused just for how they look. In fact, this is already happening. People who voted for Trump out of racist beliefs now feel vindicated. They are going after people of color.

African-Americans: He really hasn't said anything bad about them. However, he has said that he supports stop and frisk, which some critics could argue as racial profiling, and it would likely lead to it.

See above, and stop-and-frisk is an illegal invasion of civil rights. It's not a minor quibble. It was and is a racist policy.

Muslims: Initially, he said he would prevent all Muslims from entering this country. However, at the debates he said that he would instead support extreme vetting, which I think is the best option.

We already had "extreme vetting." What's gonna do, add another X or two to it?

He wants to ban Muslims from entering this country indefinitely.

LGBT: This is a group that he really hasn't talked about. As a result, I think that their rights are safe. Also, it should be remembered that a major Trump supporter who spoke at the Convention was Milo Yiannopoulos, who is gay.

First off, Milo is a terrible example to use in anything except as a portrait of human awfulness.

Second, while Trump himself has had little to say about LGBT issues, his Vice President is an ardent gaybasher who believes in conversion therapy, which kills people. His government is likely to be full of similar folks, and given that he doesn't seem to care about LGBT issues at all, they will have a free hand to oppress and injure.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Trump plans to cut corporate taxes to get companies to build factories, especially in cities like Detroit, and this will help bring jobs to not just not white people, but all people.

People who believe this are going to be very disappointed.

Corporate profits were at an all-time high before Trump won. Taxes are not why they don't build here.
