5YM movie

It needed to, Starfleet is based on US/GB naval operations.

Looks like Starfleet split the duties between the Chief Engineer and Chief Science Officer during the TOS timeframe. I doubt that the US/GB navy's sent the Captain of a capital ship on shore missions either. There are differences.

^Cos Kirk's ego was too large to stay his ass on the ship, by the STTNG era all that had changed. The Captain stayed in the chair.

Just off the top of my head...

After the destruction of Organia by the Klingon Empire, the galaxy is approaching all out war.
Back in 1970 SF author James Blish wrote a novel called Spock Must Die. It remains one of my favourite Trek novels. In it the Klingons devise a way to keep the Organians from interfering again and plan to use the same thing on Federation worlds. When the war breaks out the Enterprise happens to be far behind enemy lines and goes to Organia to find out what happened and hopes to do something about it. In the process a duplicate Spock is created who happens to sympathize with the Klingons.

I assumed that Sulu held this position in TMP as he seems to be too senior to be simply a helmsman.

Well, it that was strictly the case the navigator would be a department head officer and the helmsmen would be enlisted personnel.

He should have been a Lt Commander then.

Sulu was a lieutenant commander in TMP, but I think there may have been a wardrobe error that put lieutenant shoulder tabs on his "Class B" uniform.

How about the return of Khan before he turned into a blue hair.

Or maybe how Khan had traveled back in time to the late 70's to become the curator of a mysterious tropical island.

Or maybe where Khan's derelict spaceship met Voyager 6?

Or maybe (STOP ME PLEASE!)....

Well, regardless of what you want, the board is arranged by subject matter, not by fandom. Putting it in bold letters doesn't make any difference either.

This particular topic is fine here. But if you post something in the future that belongs in another forum, it will be moved.

Carry on.

That's big of you. Glad to see the power and cop mentality at work. Well done.

"The power and cop mentality"???

Yes, I am a moderator here, and as such, from time to time, I inform/remind people of the rules of the board. Hardly jack-booted thuggery.

If you have a problem with a moderator action you can address it via PM.

Or, you can just accept it graciously (like the OP did, over a month ago) and move on.

Either way, don't hijack threads with off-topic complaining.

I would want to see an all-out war between the Federation and the combined Klingon and Romulan Empires. Fleets of ships engaged in battle. Fully functioning ships, not crippled ships. Let's see just what a starship can really do.
