‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Cast Includes Klingon Captain, British Doctor and More

So you had thought the Federation and Empire were enemies during the time of Discovery... but "a Klingon antagonist would not fit the timeline"?
I misunderstood the initial post and was just being obtuse from then on.
Plus, people seem to like proving me wrong :ouch:

My initial reaction was a Klingon Starfleet captain, which would not fit. Obviously, first reaction was wrong. But, I kept getting great reactions so why not have some fun ;)

You mean a physician in the "World Health Organization"?
You know, I made reference to this World Health Organization as being the agency that The Doctor from VOY is part of when teaching at the Academy.
Doctor John Smith?

No, that was a different show ;)
It could work.

You're far from the only one, it seems. Many articles seem to be written with that impression.

If this is the same info from August, I think it ought to be ignored. Who knows what has been changed since then, or since Fuller's departure for that matter. For all we know, a lot has been thrown out. With Goldsman's connection to Fringe, and JJ Abrams, it wouldn't surprise me if they changed their minds and decided to go with the Alternate timeline, after all. That would solve the continuity errors\look of the Discovery people are already bitching about, without one episode being shot, yet.

Wasn't Worf the supposed to be the 1st Klingon to serve on a federation ship?
Unless you count comics from the 80's, which had a Klingon named Konom on Kirk's Enterprise. And going back to the 70's, Alan Dean Foster wrote a story around his Animated Series adaptations about Kirk rooming with a Klingon during an exchange program at Starfleet Academy.

There's a name drop. I would love that.

I was completely wrong. I was thinking of the wrong doctor.
:techman:

I can't recall any reference to that in TNG, kind of like the old one that Spock was the first Vulcan in Starfleet.

There no reason to think Worf was first.

At least one book (Worf's First Adventure) asserts that he is the first Klingon at the Academy, but of course that is not canon.

Well alright then.

It's not as if Klingons were around 100 years prior either!

I love the idea of Eccleston being a part of the cast as the doctor (small d)
Of the various Doctor Who's ( and I meant Doctor Who) Eccleston is the only one I really had any interest in.
Doesn't Worf say he was the first Klingon in Starfleet in "The sword of Kahless"
In Heart of Glory, Worf say he is the only Klingon he knows of on a "human Starfleet vessel," he doesn't mention non-Human Starfleet vessels, nor does he say he was the first Klingon in Starfleet..

Wrong W.H.O. doctor.
Christopher Eccleston did also star in a zombie apocalypse movie, only he wasn't a doctor (WHO or otherwise) and he certainly didn't try to stop it. In 28 Days Later he played a military officer who basically used the collapse of civilization as an excuse to be a douche, much like the villains in The Walking Dead are doing nowadays.

And that is why he is the wrong Doctor.
