Garrett Wang Takes Legal Action After False Rumors

Wang must be pretty desperate for ca$h, if he's trying to sue over this kind of stupidity. It's pointless - even if he wins, he can't win. Megan must be quite a gal ... high maintenance, ALL the way! "Garret, when are you going to get a decent paying job that doesn't involving you whinging on the Convention Circuit? My credit's maxed out." "Don't worry Megan, I've got an angle ..." Yeah, well ... good luck with that.

Nevertheless ... Wang and Megan are just going to have to start living sensibly. No more dining out, regularly .... clipping coupons ... buying groceries ... generic brands, whenever available

What kind of conclusions are you guys coming up with? That his legal action is just a publicity stunt? Or what? What is the point of speculating and coming to some conclusion when no one knows what he is talking about? If Wang wasn't clear about the details of this legal, then he wasn't. Why not admit that we don't know why and move on, instead of using this as an excuse to bash him?

Yes, But thing is ....that twitter post/thread is the only thing that talks about this. Nothing else. He's a very obscure actor. Not worthy enough to worry about his reputation, which doesn't exist. Nobody knows who he is.

I've had a pretty good look and still can't find sight or sound of this rumour. Clearly important to Wang though if he is bringing into the open so good luck to him.

Ach... I didn't mind Kim, never bought into the stick the character gets.

From what his letter said, he was made aware at a recent convention that someone was spreading harmful rumors about him. Garrett makes his living doing conventions now so I'm guessing the rumor could be something that would effect him booking convention gigs.

I can understand Wang. If someone was spreading slander, rumors or lies about me, I would sue them too.

Ask Jodie Foster, it took her forever to get out of the closet.

In the olden days sure?

I'm not sure if 2016 is the future.

It still feels like the past. :(

At a guess the 2nd most malleable group of movie goers are 13 to twenty year olds. Basically children still figuring out their sexuality, and even though they might yet still be gay, they're probably still in denial and think they should keep plugging away at trying to be more straight than they want to be.

Jodie Foster's lesbianism was always her best-known secret, though ... was it not? Almost like The Shat denying he wore a rug ...

This might sound a naive question but is this really so?
And if the answer is yes, for what reason?

Oh yes the closet is alive and well in Hollywood. Actors who have come out, like Zachary Quinto, have all discussed the pressure they were under to remain closeted. The reason is Hollywood is afraid of the financial impact of having an openly gay leading actor/actress. For a number of years the line was, middle America isn't ready for an openly gay actor being an action hero or being the romantic lead (the fear was that the audience wouldn't buy an openly gay actor playing a straight part). Now the line is while America could be ready for that, the major foreign markets like China are not.

I worked in the Vancouver TV/Film industry (Hollywood North) from 2003 to 2011 and I know of a number of actors who are gay but for career reasons are in fake relationships/marriages with women. BTW I'm aware of a lead Star Trek actor (not Garrett Wang) from one incarnation of Trek who is gay but not publicly out....and no I won't name the person until they come out or how I know.

If he's planning on suing someone, I hope he acts better on the stand than he did in Voyager.

It can also be something different. If Wang is now working for/at Cons you can harm him by spreading a rumor that undermines the reputation - like "he stole some money" or that he did something that Donald Trump would never do because nobody respects women more than Trump.
