DSC news in October?

Ehm... As far as I heard, the Discoverys registry is a nod to the real discoverys registry: OV-103. Just saying...
Bryan Fuller REALLY Likes Halloween

Seriously. Like, enough to commission an entire starship in its honor. Just take a look at the Discovery’s registry number: NCC-1031. “Yes,” admits the director with a laugh, “I love Halloween.”

Don't use Twitter much myself, would be cool if someone could ask him if we'll be getting news soon this month?

Trek fandom can be so peculiar at times. There's a direct quote from the producer admitting the number is in reference to Halloween, and still people are like "I don't think it's a reference to Halloween."

Just finished a rant about head canon over in the Connie thread and saw the notification about your post. Fortuitous.

1031 = October 31st.
Yes, I know when Halloween is. But there's no connection between Discovery and Halloween. It's not a Horror series, there are no ghosts on it, nobody goes trick or treating or dresses up like Wonder Woman. :rommie:

I haven't seen that quote. Do you have a link? It's a pretty amazing coincidence that this Discovery's registration number is so similar to the Shuttle Discovery's registration number.

Look three posts above your previous post in this thread. Or you know what, here:

I think he was just having fun with the kid. He's said that the ship is named after Space Shuttle Discovery. It's far more likely that the registry number is based on the registry number of the original vehicle rather than a random non sequitur. It would be an amazing coincidence otherwise-- and even more amazing if it was a coincidence that Fuller himself didn't notice.

The ship itself doesn't have to have anything to do with Halloween for Fuller to put an in-joke reference to the holiday in there.

Did you not hear the news?

It's a haunted ship, they're on a five-year mission to get rid of all the ghosts on-board.

To be fair, it reads like he was joking. Without seeing the video, it's hard to say if he is being serious or not.

According to Nicholas Meyer's dog on Twitter they've finished off creating an important support character and they've been selecting actresses...

You know what I hope this show doesn't have? Modern indie artist songs playing during the final scenes of every episode, which has become a cliche for network shows, especially on NBC.
