....AAAAND the spin has already started regarding Trump's recorded lewd comments about women. "Bill Clinton did it." "JFK did it..."

The rats are defending the guy instead of abandoning the sinking ship. Disgusting.

So? How is that any different than 99% of politicians after they've been in politics a few years?

Hillary Clinton is at least a competent leader and intelligent stateswoman. I don't give two flying flips if she's a career politician. I've always known that. I think she's boring, she's uninspiring, she's just there.

But she's a better choice than ANYONE on the Republican side at this point in time. The only one that acts like they have a brain in their head at all is Rand Paul. But even he only acts like it half the time. It's a cesspool of idiocy on the Right these days.
I won't argue your opinion, but I'll suggest that you look into the history.

No one is going to change anyone's mind here. This thread has been pretty much an anti-Trump echo chamber.

As I've said before, I don't like Trump. But Hillary is not a good candidate either. Yelling at me about the choices isn't going to make a hill of beans in the outcome.

HA! Apparently Donald Trump thinks he can out-grope my husband. My husband invented the pussy grab.

HA!
Garak, I know you've got to keep up your Halloween persona, and Trump saying things like this has sort of lowered the bar for political discussion all around, but there's a difference between matter-of-factly reporting what Trump said and saying something like that as a joke commentary. Please don't do this again.

Since this is essentially the same pointless thing you say in every political thread ever (and multiple times in this thread already), why do you bother wasting everyone's time saying it again? No one is forcing you to participate in this thread, and I do disagree with your premise that everyone's mind is as closed on the issue of who to vote for as yours. And this thread was started and frequently bumped by a Trump supporter.

Indeed, and I can honestly say that I have changed my mind, over the years, on a great many issues, with this very forum being a significant contribution to those changes.

Since this is the only political thread I've posted in, in months, maybe years, and please feel free to look it up, I have to say the "you always" thing you do is a little tired. You've tried that crap on me before and it doesn't stick any more now than it did then.

Have a nice day.

"No one is going to change anyone's mind here" is a self-nullifying statement. You can't sway anybody with it, because if you ever did it would become false. In speaking for everyone present, both heard and unheard, it's also pretty arrogant. It's a pretty good example of something counter-productive.

Whenever someone says it, what they mean is, "No one is going to change my mind here."

Yeah, it's pretty incredible. Except it was 11 years ago. If only someone had recorded him saying that today, like right now, from the campaign bus....he'd be "done," as Julian Assange said Hillary would be after his supposed bombshell.

As it is, this is pretty damning, and more ammunition for her to use against him, but not really a bombshell. He can wriggle out of it by saying "It was 11 years ago," and "But Bill Clinton had affairs!"...which he's already doing.

....And there are still women who will vote for him. My aunt, for instance. "All men are dogs," she said. "But Hillary is a crooked bitch."

Soooooo....um, yeah. Business as usual for another month, I guess.

On the facebook forum I am part of people are sidestepping this tape with "what about Clinton and what he was like?" instead of addressing this tape.

EDIT: I didn't realize the tape was 11 years ago......

Won't be long till we hear screams of "it's a setup"

So, you haven't done this before, but for no reason whatsoever we've had this same conversation multiple times. Uh huh. That makes sense.

It's already happening. On the Fox News comment section for the article about this, some woman said "This is a liberal lie. Someone doctored the tape. Mr. Trump would never speak in such a way."

I shit you not.

What difference does eleven years make? Is it less awful to brag about your ability to get away with sexual assault the more time passes? It's not like he treats women better now, he just has an army of handlers trying (and frequently failing) to keep his poor impulse control under wraps, which is a 24/7 job since he goes on 5:00 AM twitter rants against women that criticize his abusive behavior.

I'm sure the usual brigade of apathetic, irresponsible posters will be by with their "Both sides are equally bad" bullshit any time now (I know you're not among them, but their nonsense just disgusts me, especially this election).

Denial is a powerful thing for such people.

Dude, I agree with you. 100%. I'm just saying....we KNOW that he's still the same slimeball. I just wish this was a tape from today. It would've been a delicious scandal.

As it is we're just going to have to wait and see how this affects Sunday's debate. It's a town hall...but that won't prevent him from going on a tangent. And in the wake of this, he'll probably go full-bore and bring up Bill's scandals. Hillary will be ready. She's had 20 years of practice for it.
