Beltran to play Chak in the next Renegades

Bottom Line? I really wish Beltran wasn't in it. That's all I've been saying/have been trying to say. I heard about the first Renegades and how Tim Russ was involved. I must confess that my curiosity was piqued. But it was just too embarrassing watching this -- I had to turn the other way.

I did try revisiting it ... maybe I was too rash with my harsh judgment of the thing. This time, I would view it with the mindset of being an Art student. A bunch of up-and-comers have thrown something Artistic and unique together, using STAR TREK as its inspiration. Well ... this time it was even worse. I just could not get through it. Like going to watch your kid sing on stage, for the first time and people are throwing eggs and tomatoes at her. So, I got up ... got a drink of water ... and hoped to hell that Tim got Fan Film making out of his system.
 
Manu Intaraymi is really pushing for monetary supply via kickstarter to do "The Circuit" film. He's been spamming the hell out of our facebooks. Would 5k people just donate 10 bucks so he'll stop?! haha. Yes,I could hit UNLIKE but I like Manu! :D I think people are still upset that the fan series (renegades) didn't pan out Star Trek style, so I don't blame them for hanging onto their money more guarded this time.
 
I've always - OK? - ALWAYS wanted to write and direct my own movie. Not a Fan Film, though - I won't go there. But, let's just say, for the sake of argument, that I had the approach already figured out, how to make MY film. And all I really needed was ... the money. Would ALL of my friends here, on trekbbs.com, let's say, support me in this endeavour ... do you suppose? It would mean so much ...

Agreed. She seems to be the only good thing in Renegades (in fact, in DS9, she was always more credible in the role of an action girl than an intellectual one!). Even Tim Russ and Robert Picardo - though I'm not crazy of the Doctor as you know - disappointed me. Gentlemen, maybe it is time to give up your iconic roles. They don't age well! :crazy: Sad.:sigh:
 
If known talent from the STAR TREK franchise wants to do Fan Films that might be worth watching, what they SHOULD do is appear in music videos with bands like WARP 10 and The Roddenberries ... and so forth. Something like that might even border on being acceptable ... with the best of them almost threatening to be cool.
 
Impossible, yes .... but it's true! These notable performers have no pride left. They are appearing in Renegades for free. And, as you know, there ain't no bigger savings than FREE!
 
I like renegades...and yeah, losing its Trek trappings is going to be fiddly at first, but I hope it goes on.

Heck...I secretly wish to write for it. Because that would be almost as awesome as writing for actual Trek, and in some ways better...because it's like Punk. And has actual Trek people in who I already like as actors/characters, so has more of a draw.
(Not to mention it has a greater chance of actually happening. Slim odds is better than no odds.)
Beltran has aged about as well as any of Treks cast, and better than some.

I'm pretty sure they're being paid. Probably not much, but they're being paid.
 
I've lost track of this, has there been a new release since the first amazing, incredible, blockbuster Renegades that I watched on youtube?

Manu was filming but now all I see are his stints on Westworld and funding The circuit which resumes in March. He hasn't spoke of renegades on fb anyway other than showing us one film session after its retitle. So honestly, I am not sure.
 
Also, since it's not Star Trek anymore and the characters have been slightly altered, I wish they'd gone with Chipotle for Robert Beltran.
