Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I got new "Warp Delta" issue yesterday (#82) Not really one I've been desperate for exactly but I seem to be collecting all the Starfleet ones so why not. Nice little model, just nothing spectacular really, it does make you realise how lame the model we got of the fellow United Earth Ship Intrepid (#44) looks in comparison though!

Can't blame Eaglemoss for that. The CG model itself had no markings (presumably because it was a barely-seen background ship, and because that's one less thing to switch if they needed to recycle it later). Pity we never got a proper class designation in canon (probably something like NC-class or something).

I'll be picking up the Warp Delta today - it's one I've been looking quite forward to, and the images I've seen on Facebook are just beautiful. In fact, to me it has the feel of the ships they might have used in the novel 'Starfleet: Year One' during the Romulan Wars and before the Daedalus-class was commissioned (if Enterprise had never been retconned). I'm also ordering the Pasteur this weekend from the UK Eaglemoss shop. Question for Ethros - on your AGT Enterprise D, have they corrected the strange spelling error behind the shuttlebay on the top of the saucer section (the 'Intiaparinu' text that should have been 'Enterprise-D'?)? If I get the Pasteur, I may have to get the AGT Enterprise D just so it doesn't look odd that I have one but not the other in my collection.

In that case, are you gonna get the Negh'Var too?

I'll ask again if anyone has any solutions about what to do regarding the K't'inga.

Yeah behind the main shuttle bay it says 1701-D, and underneath that ENTERPRISE
The box it came in is dated 2014. Why, were did first batches just have random letters there?

And I've currently got it displayed on my desk along with Pasteur and Negh'Var too :)

I think I'm going to skip that one, unfortunately. I was tempted once, but the bit about it not being completely assembled put me off (missing plastic bits, can see inside of the model). Was that issue ever fixed?

When it was first released, at least some of the reviews - such as on Some Kind of Star Trek - highlighted that the word behind the shuttlebay read 'Intiaparinu'. It might have just been a limited number that had that error.

All that said...I noticed an error on the Warp Delta. A very slight error, but an error nonetheless - check the number of windows around the lateral sensor dome. There should be four sets of three windows each, there are only three sets (on the plans themselves, there are four sets).

I've now ordered the Pasteur. Once upon a time I wasn't so sure about that ship, but I've really loosened up with buying the ships and the moment it came back into stock, I was definitely getting it; I even telephoned Eaglemoss to find out how many they had in stock (only 16, so I had to order it quickly). I am of the mindset of getting every single Federation/Starfleet/United Earth Starfleet/Human ship, with select alien ships (Dominion fleet...I hope they do the Jem'Hadar Battleship, there should be no reason not to), although I'm still not entirely sold on the ECS Fortunate, the Raven or the Costeau (or the ECS Horizon). The Kyushu I can get behind, and possibly the Saratoga. The Nebula - despite the issue with the seam at the back - I am also interested in (because I won't be displaying it in such a way that any serious issues with it would be visible anyway).

I'll ask again if anyone has any solutions about what to do regarding the K't'inga.

I can't really be of any help on that, sorry. Well, except to suggest you get a cloaked Bird of Prey to fire on it from beneath you, sending the K't'inga flying out of control, two people to beam over and assassinate the Klingon Chancellor, and then get another person to alter your data banks to imply that you did indeed fire the torpedoes.

EDIT: And guess what? The Pasteur has been taken off the in-stock list on the site. The morning after I ordered it. I was told they had 16 in stock on Friday evening, am I supposed to believe they went completely out of stock in just over 24 hours? I hope not, because that's twice a ship has been in stock on their website when it probably shouldn't have been (ordered the Oberth during the August bank holiday Monday...their system apparently shouldn't have allowed me to do that because it was out of stock by that time). Hopefully I caught the Pasteur in time last night...

Still working on the K't'inga. I tried "twisting" the head a bit the other way to see if that would do anything (not sure how much "memory" plastic like that has). I ended up hearing a SNAP, but not where you think. I'd been holding it by the sides of the nacelles and, like Lenny from "Of Mice and Men", I guess I squeezed a bit too hard, and one of the nacelles came off! :brickwall::shrug:

(Fortunately, my trusty glue fixed that, but, unfortunately, the "head" hasn't changed.)

Another trick that works with warped plastic: boil some water in the microwave, immerse the part for a few seconds to soften the plastic, adjust to the correct angle, then quickly dunk it into ice water to set the plastic.

Sounds a bit risky, but this is bugging me just enough that I might try it.

Does anyone know if Eaglemoss will be producing a USS Franklin from Star Trek Beyond at some point? I guess it's hard to predict if they haven't made an announcement, but given their history of Kelvin ships is that a reasonable expectation?

I see that Amazon has a special Beyond bundle that includes a Franklin model from a different company, and judging just by the picture of it, I imagine Eaglemoss would produce a model of higher quality. Thoughts?

Franklin is one of the ship's Eaglemoss has announced they're doing (unfortunately, it seems that they're not doing the Beyond refit 1701). Note that the one with the Amazon set is from QMx, I haven't seen any of their MiniMasters ships in person (of which Franklin is one), but on the whole their quality is pretty good.

Pasteur arrived in the post yesterday, which was quite quick - ordered it last Saturday and it was despatched on Monday...even though on Monday the girl at Eaglemoss said that it hadn't come through on their system yet, that it can take up to 48 hours - they've never told me that before - and the gentleman on Tuesday said that it had been handed over to Royal Mail on Tuesday; I don't think they have any idea what's happening, they're probably scratching their heads themselves .

The ship itself is a thing of beauty. Great design. I was never that hot on that design, but for some reason, the more of the Federation/Starfleet line that I have collected, the more the various designs have grown on me. Now I'm going to be ordering the Romulan Warbird from the online shop, but it's whether or not to go for the K't'inga or the Borg Sphere, or both (at least this time around). Researching these other models, I have to say - apart from the issue with the warp nacelles being angled inwards on the K't'inga (and the propensity for the neck to be bent), there do not appear to be any major problems with the depiction of the ship through the model; it has been pointed out that it is missing the Klingon symbol on the top of the drive section, but judging by images from The Motion Picture, it never had one there to begin with (so Konami, for instance, added that detail in themselves).

So #96-100 have been annoucned at Destination Star Trek

Issue #96: Orion Ship (TOS R: Journey to Babel)
Issue #97: USS Rhode Island (VOY: Endgame)
Issue #98: Academy Flight Trainer (TNG: First Duty)
Issue #99: Borgified Arctic One (ENT: Regeneration)
Issue #100: Daedalus Class (DS9: various on Sisko's desk!)

Daedalus for #100 then, I would have guessed the Enterprise ring ship but suppose that will do nicely. The Rhode Island really isn't that much different than the Equinox, basically just the front filled in, but I'll probably end up getting it anyway! Also my Equinox has a wonky nacelle so it'll be nice to hopefully have a straight Nova class ship.
Orion ship I'm not bothered about. Flight Trainer is doubtful as it looks kinda bland and flat but I'll judge it from the pics. And the Arctic One could be cool, I'm interested to see how that one turns out

Apparently they're going to be doing special sized ships of every enterprise and some of the other hero ships. Ben also has stated that they might be looking at a 3rd and 4th shuttle collection as well. Where is all of this supposed to go again?

I think I'd probably only go for large versions of the 1701 Refit (not the A - already got a small A, want a decent 1701 TMP/TWoK/TSFS refit though, minus the A in the registry) and the Enterprise E - my two favourite ships of all time. The smaller ships do it for me just fine (plus at £50 a pop...).
