Stranger Things definately has potential to be a part of infamous group of great series ruined by lousy second seasons. Part of me wishes that they would have just concluded the story.

We'll just have to wait and see. This first season was definitely much better than X-Files season 10, which has only one excellent episode ("Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster").

Couple cool new things from last two days. First, a teaser for Season 2 with episode name reveals:

Second, the main 4 kids playing with silly string, and one of them rapping Nicki Minaj's Monster verse like a pro:

Is it just me or does Millie Bobby Brown remind anyone else of a young Adam Baldwin?

I am sick this week so what you gonna do? Right.. catch up on some shows you heard about from various sources. So it's only 8 episodes and that should cover the time for a few days alongside fall season spinning up currently, that was the original thought.

Wrong! I blew through this amazing show in one go (and i already lost last weekend to binge watching Luke Cage) and it's 1:30 am and the perfect time to end a supernatural horror show.

I can only urge everybody to give this a shot, especially for people who grew up in the 80s and get that vibe. I'm not a big horror fan, in fact i don't like horror at all but this was done so well it blew my mind. It hit all milestones from that era and combined it perfectly in a new way.

Some Spielberg, some 80s Horror movies, a big nod to Akira all topped with a fantastic cast - above them all 4 kids who really knocked it out of the park (and most child actors suck when you're being honest). I especially loved the connection to Akira which i instantly spotted the first time Eleven/Elle let loose, the show would have just need a few motorbikes and the kids to be slightly older to form a biker gang and people/anime/manga fans would have lost their minds. ;)

The setup for the second season was intriguing enough but they need to move fast before those kids really hit puberty (or they incorporate the changes to them and adapt to the real production time). Anyway i'll be definitely looking forward and this time will put it on my must watch list.

I've been hearing a lot about this show, so I decided to check it out. I saw the whole thing in one sitting and loved it. Netflix hits it out of the ballpark again.

I wondered if there was some significance to setting it in the 80s. Didn't know it was purely as an homage.

I picked up on several. Silent Hill and Under the Skin with naked Scar Jo come to mind.

    Yes, very Spielbergian.

Awesome intro. Loved the grainy neon title and the synthesizer music.

Yes, absolutely. I was thinking the same.

I thought they did end it. Around episode 4 or 5, it did look like it was headed for a resolution and in the end, it felt complete. Then I went online and found out that they plan to continue the story. I was expecting a new story and a new cast for season 2. I liked that idea because I don't like to see shows dragging on and on. I was about to praise this show for telling a complete story in one season. Oh well.

I finished this a few weeks ago. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it, i'm surprised that Season 2 will continue with the same cast and setting. Frankly, I expected the show to be more of an anthology or Outer Limits type show where each season is a new story. I love the fact that the show ended ambiguously. You know, a town so strange that life just goes on and nobody speaks of the events. I love that!

It will be interesting to see where they take S2. Though a part of me is wishing they had just gone in a totally new direction. Maybe move forward a few years and go to the Soviet Union to explore the Chernobyl disaster.

    Very late to this party....

My son and I just finished the series last night.

    Magnificent!

Trying to describe it to someone at work, I said "It's Goonies meets Event Horizon".

Winona Ryder did a fantastic job as the mom. The kids were all wonderful.

I'm kind of bummed that the sister went back to douche-boy, but then again I suppose he redeemed himself in the house battle with the monster.

Anyway, we can't wait for Season 2. Just a wonderful, wonderful show. I can't say enough positive about it.

    A+
