What are your thoughts about seeing the prime universe again?

Kelvinverse is full of "prime elements". Note that I'm not arguing for or against "prime universe" as a setting--I consider the argument meaningless. I'm simply pointing out that "he wanted to use Prime elements" does not, in and of itself, preclude a non-"prime" setting. As I noted, I don't care either way.

There are certainly elements in common. But, presumably there is a reason for why he chose Prime over Kelvin based on elements available in the Prime.

Mr Awe

There are no "elements" exclusive to prime.

Jesus fucking Christ.
The voyages of the TOS crew and indeed Starfleet's history unfolded very differently in the Prime universe than they did in the Kelvin universe. Kirk's history is very different. There are elements that are unique to each universe and there are some shared ones.

It's really not difficult to comprehend.

Mr Awe

I read your posts. It seems you're having a hard time dealing with the fact that the new series will be in the prime trek universe.

Sure doesn't seem like you comprehend them...

But... just to be clear...

Discovery in a brand new reboot universe: BillJ pays $9.99 a month to watch it.
Discovery in the Abramsverse: BillJ pays $9.99 a month to watch it.
Discovery in the Prime universe: BillJ pays $9.99 a month to watch it.

Never once have I said I won't watch the show if its in the Prime universe (unlike some folks who stated plainly that they wouldn't watch a show set in the Abramsverse).

As much as it drives some crazy, talking about various possibilities doesn't mean one is having a "hard time".

I think the prime haters have trouble grasping the concept. Kirk had a father in prime to raise him. Nukirk was raised by his mom because his dad blown to bits. Completely unique elements to each universe.

And with the wave of a magic wand, a few chicken scratches, and an attaboy, all that can easily be changed.

There is nothing inherently exclusive to the Primeverse or the Kelvinverse or the Discoverse or the multiverse or the reverse or the unicornverse.

Nothing.

Whatever makes you feel better with having to deal with the prime universe being back in new star treks stories. Good timing since the last nutrek.universe film did horrible. Prime trek is by far the superior trek thus far.

Not to mention Prime Kirk was actually a competent captain! In 28 years of documented service he destroyed only one ship! :rommie:

Spoken like someone who knows what he's talking about.

If he continues like that in a few years/movies he's gonna be the sole captain of Enterprises A, B, C, D and bloody E! :guffaw:

Don't forget nuKirk had an abusive stepdad, who drove a reallllly old car and listened to "classical" music.

For all we know, Prime Kirk may have had an abusive parent. There is nothing we know about his parents from the Prime timeline.

That's true. Character development beyond the core cast was never a Trek strength. Not until DS9, that is. Then they overtly abandoned it again with Voyager
