So I seriously haven't played STO in almost a year now and been thinking about picking it back up. I've felt for a while that the only thing that could really get me back into playing STO is them bringing some of the Kelvin Universe ships and hardware and making them playable... but since T6 Connie is lockbox ships (and I'd end up having to spend more money than I prefer to in order to obtain them) I'm compelled to ask: What are the relative odds of getting an Constitution from the box? Are people getting them on their first or second try or is this the sort of thing where I'd have pop ten or twelve of them and hope I get really really lucky?

If you're looking for a specific lockbox ship, the last thing you should do is open lockboxes hoping to find one.

Instead of buying Master Keys to open lockboxes, sell those keys on the exchange for Energy Credits till you have enough to buy the ship. I guarantee you this will be the cheaper way to getting the ship you want than opening boxes.

This. It took me a long time to learn this, a long, expensive time.

I'd love a Kelvin Connie but I refuse to spend that type of money on it. I felt grubby buying an Excelsior a few years back and that was only something like 500 zen points, whatever that works out to in real money...

Doesn't look like any of the later content is in the PS4 version yet anyway, just the base game. Think they're still on Cardassian lockboxes at the moment. I may go back to my PC character at some point but I'm already getting along with the PS4 version a lot better.

I'm one of those people who will be sitting with the PC version ... as I don't have either console at the moment.

Also hopefully soon we'll hear about season 12 soon.

Yep. I really wanted to try it out on the XB1, but since you have to have Gold, back to the PC I go.

It's only a bit shinier in some areas, and borderline unplayable to someone used to the pc version in others. It's been dialled down to be easier too, and space Barbie is pointless...no way to hide hud for screenies, and your ship is almost impossible to see in sector space.

On the other hand, it's nice seeing so many console gamers really enjoying it so far.

I'm much preferring being able to play it with a controller, I was just getting lost with all the keyboard commands.

And yeah, my ship looks tiny! Found that same problem when I installed it on my new laptop though, guess it doesn't like being played in 1080p. Hoping for a better zoom function (or a zoom function at all in the PS4 version), or updated ship models you can actually see. Sometimes all I can see of my ship is the tiny red dot of the impulse engines.

Not fussed about screenshots tbh, just want to be able to get on with the game and see what I'm doing. I did spend about half an hour last night messing about with the look of my starter Miranda class ship, only to realise the free Andorian escort I'd been given for linking my account to the PS4 was a better ship... though un-customisable :-(

That sucks, though it's typical Microsoft. It wasn't that long ago you needed Gold just to do things like watch Netflix on the 360. That said I'm surprised Sony allow 'free-to-play' games on the PS4 without needing PS Plus. Pleasantly so, as my subscription ran out last month and I haven't renewed it yet...

The starter Mirandas are one of the smallest ships in the game. Most end-game T6 ships are several orders of magnitude larger and would fill the screen nicely.

I sort of like using my controller and sort of don't. I haven't tested remote play on my Vita yet.

Understandable, but it would still be nice if we could see them. My Excelsior (the largest ship I have on the PC version) is larger than the Miranda and still barely visible.

I find the controller infinitely preferable. And I gave up remote play as a bad job a long time ago. The only time I can get a connection good enough to do it is when I'm in the same building as my PS4, which kind of defeats the purpose. My job last year involved a lot of overnight stays in hotels, so I thought I'd take my Vita in order to remote play in the evenings. Couldn't get it to connect, not even once.

I have nightmares with it too. Doesn't work in same house. Even with direct connection turned on, which also transmits an unchangeable advert that you own a ps4 to anyone in range via its wifi SSID. Am hoping having switched to fibre it may work better from outside, but am not holding my breathe.
When it does work, the games are usually playable.

The Excelsior is "old" where STO is concerned. Sometime last year, Cryptic upgraded their graphics engine to allow for truly huge ships. They've been going crazy with ship sizes ever since. A Vengence is easily 6-8 times larger than the Excelsior, probably more.

They dwarf my oddy. Almost makes me want to take up pvp, damned dyson airblades

I'm sure we console players will get a fix soon. Seems like lots of people are complaining about the zoom--myself included. I've also encountered several annoying bugs like commands appearing then disappearing. I went to check out my bridge and the command to beam back to star base disappeared for several minutes before reappearing.

So far I'm enjoying it. Bought an NX class. Called the the USS Archer. Orbited a cool looking-planet and avoided a Klingon battle group for some time waiting for a friend to show up. The ship was zoomed in very close and the whole scene looked and felt really Trek-like. But as soon as it adjusted the zoom, it would never get as close as when I first entered the area.

Well if any PS4 players want to hang and play some missions etc, feel free to add me - PSN ID is Painreliever.

Remote play improved by faster fibre.....and I am play STO in bed without my laptop roasting mah orbs of the prophets

The PS4 version is pretty rough at this point. Glitchy, and I can't connect half the time.
