Fan Penned Reboots

I was wondering if anyone has taken the task of rebooting Star Trek themselves with their own storylines and versions of episodes? I'd be curious to read them.

I did reboot Voyager with quite a different crew, though since then I've rethought my premise and replaced the Captain and First Officer again.

I had a script style version of "Caretaker" (the first and only time I've done script) on here somewhere.

My reboot crew comprised of:
Commanding Officer - Captain William Riker (replaced with Elizabeth Shelby in further redevelopment)
First Officer - Lt. Commander Ro Laren (replaced with Calvin Hudson in further redevelopment)
Security/Tactical Officer - Lieutenant Tuvok
Science Officer - Lieutenant Aiva Stadi
Conn Officer - Lieutenant JG Nathan Hawk
Engineering Officer - Lieutenant JG B'Elanna Torres
Ops Officer - Ensign Sam Lavelle
Medical Officer - EMH (recast with a different, less hammy actor)
Guide - Neelix (recast and altered to be more of a Han Solo-esque scoundrel)
Medic - Kes

There's a four or five part version of a reboot of Star Trek on fanfiction.net

Back many years there was a website for a series called "Star Trek Reborn" but it went bye bye a few years back, around the time that the JJ reboots came along. It was a very low-tech take on Trek, which focused more on the character drama. It featured season long story arcs, developing the relationships of Kirk, Spock, Bones. Sulu was an older guy with a daughter who was going to take over as XO on Enterprise. It was an interesting shuffling of the characters.

It featured some media to back up the scripts. Like a "fantasy football" cast, using Gabriel Koerner's Enterprise, redesigned uniforms... The show made use of quite a few songs, too. Fiona Apple's cover "Across the Universe" was the title song. I think it featured a little Dean Martin/Frank Sinatra in one of the episodes where Bones is literally tripping out due to an alien device. It was definitely trying to feel like Star Trek with a contemporary twist.

Also, I loved their pick for Dr. McCoy. Gary Sinise would have been awesome.

I actually got to six episodes before I got waylaid. The rest in order:

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3665294/1/The-No-Win-Scenario

I also posted links here as I posted the stories there, so those threads are in the ether here somewhere.

My goal was for a full season of stories, but...I got waylaid.

I remember this very well, IF ONLY the pilot was shot as a fanfilm!! Jeremy would probably have not got his dream cast however there will have been suitable substitutes.(I still have the script) Grunloh had a clear vision and presented it beautifully starting on Trekweb then moving onto his own site.

Here's mine, http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/star-trek-reboot-my-vision.253360/ think TOS with a TNG aesthetic with story elements from all the shows and movies - a change I've written since posting this is that Vulcan is not part of the Federation but rather the planet occupied by the Cardassians, not Bajor.

Since writing this - I've actually outlined a pilot however I've since decided on a 'dream team' crew, consisting of 2 members each from TOS-VOY plus an Andorian. Funnily enough at the Mission New York event they picked a similar crew, this was mine

CAPTAIN - Jean-Luc Picard
XO - Nyota Uhura
SCIENCE - Mr Spock
MEDICAL - The EMH
TACTICAL - Pa'Avel (female Andorian)
SECURITY - Odo
HELM - Jadzia Dax
NAVIGATOR - Seven of Nine
ENGINEERING - Geordi LaForge

All I've done is pick the crew - I haven't rewritten the character bios or pilot yet; I will have to think long and hard about how these guys fit together and into this new universe I've recreated!

The Badger did this reworking of Enterprise that is well worth reading. Even if he never finished the 3rd one. I've often wondered if he'd be interested in filing the numbers off and submitting it somewhere. Baen is usually interested in new talent, but he seems to have disappeared so I guess I'll never know.
