OK, so I guess I didn't really contribute to the point of your thread. So I did some searching, and through the magic of Google Image Search, I think it's possible (although I can't be absolutely certain) that these:
are possibly Horikawa Star Strider Robots in red:

The Okudas were into anime and packed the show with references, so I'm gonna guess they're all anime figurines along the top.

It's always possible it was a real language, or a made-up one we saw elsewhere that isn't immediately recognizable from that picture.

I think it was an alien font I made up for a one-off appearance of a race we probably didn't see again on TNG. I occasionally helped out with alien typography. - R
