Not a Drill: SETI Is Investigating a Possible Extraterrestrial Signal From Deep Space

Are you ok with the notion of reading my posts before answering them?

You mean the meaningless "it will be fine if they teach us" stuff? Why would I want to teach a chimp how to use a firearm? It still doesn't have the knowledge or wisdom to know when use is acceptable. Hell, we still don't understand ourselves when it is and is not acceptable to use a firearm. Even by those we train and trust to use them responsibly.

So, your point is pretty much rubbish.

I never said that. Why do you need to distort someone's statements before pretending to answer them? Do you believe that your arguments are so weak that they can't withstand actual counter-argumentation?

A chimp, given enough time, will figure out how to use a firearm. A "lock" on alien technology isn't going to stop us (the chimps in this scenario) from eventually figuring out how to use it.

Which is why, if you're advanced enough, you don't mess around with the chimps. There is nothing good that can come of it. Let the chimps figure out how to make their own guns, then you deal with them on those terms.

Maybe you should spend less time thinking about chimps and more about real people.

Exactly what it says?

What do you have to object to my core explanation? Have you even bothered to read it?
Yes, everyone participating at this point has read your posts, You can lay that question to bed. Now, since you are the one complaining that we are not understanding what you are trying to say based on what you've posted, we would like you to restate your argument.

How many people is "we", at this point? It seems there are only two of you, plus one who's dropped off the debate a very long time ago.

Would you give a 5 year old a loaded handgun if the safety was on? Would you leave a 5 year old in the driver's seat of a running bulldozer if it was in "park"? Would you let a 5 year old play with a laser pointer that was turned off?

What's that got to do with anything I previously said? Be precise, please.

If you say so. Thanks for sending another thread spiraling down the tedium drain.

You and you friend are the ones to be thanked for that. I only tried to respond to your gibes. It was obviously a mistake. I should have ignored you from the start. That will teach me.
