As you don't seem to grasp that if an advanced civilization lock us out of their technology then we won't be able to use it no matter how much time we spend trying and this assuming that we could even get near it!!! You're so used to the fake world of Star trek where all you have to do is type a few keys to make anything, no matter how alien, work that you believe that's how the real world works.

This isn't "radium Jewelry", this is highly sophisticated technology specifically designed to keep away unauthorized beings. You don't seem to understand that.
Think about it. If aliens ever come to this planet, they'll be well aware of the thieving and violent nature of some of us (they wouldn't be advanced otherwise). They will have taken every precaution to protect themselves against us. It will be in their own best interest to do so.

Yes, this is radium jewelry. It's humans seeing something they want, not understanding it, but profiting from it and causing others to die because of it. You've already mapped out how the aliens will react, which is fascinating, and actually makes my point a little bit. You're essentially saying "it won't hurt us, they'll have made it safe for us to use," which is a sure as shit way of getting everyone killed.

I'd love for it to be a signal from another civilization sitting across the gulf of space, but it likely isn't any such signal. It was probably a radiation burst, or any of a hundred naturally occurring phenomena.
Same. I would really love for it to have been a real signal. I have always wished it was, and that we just missed out on finding that out. A one off never to be repeated signal.
Parodying my opinion doesn't help your case. Either you didn't read what I wrote or you decided to ignore it and replace it with a straw man of your own, either way this discussion has reached an impasse a few posts ago and it has stayed there since.

It is what it comes down to, though. If I have super technology, the worst thing I can do is give it to someone who doesn't understand the ramifications of its use.
Coming back to Trek, one of the moments that stick most clearly in my mind is Mitchell and Kirk's attempt to reach Dehner about just how dangerous he is.
