Chakotay trailing behind Janeway in the votes, I have to understand, considering ... but behind The Doctor, as well? That just doesn't make any sense ...

The Doctor seems to be pretty popular with a lot of fans - here, as well as on other fora. I'm actually surprised that the Doc and Seven aren't tied for first place ... :rommie:

My ranking of the characters is as follows:

Chakotay, of course
B'Elanna Torres-Paris
Kes
Tuvok
Tom Paris
Kathryn Janeway
Seven of Nine
EMH
Harry Kim
Neelix

My ranking of the characters:
1. Kes
2. Chakotay
3. Janeway
4. Paris
5. Tuvok
6. Torres
7. The Doctor
8. Neelix
9. Kim
10. Seven

1. Commander Chakotay
2. Tom Paris
3. The Doctor
4. Harry Kim
5. B'Ellana Torres
6. Kes
7. Neelix
8. Captain Janeway
9. Tuvok
10. Seven of Nine

1. B'Elanna (favorite Trek character of all)
2. EMH
3. Neelix (tie)
3. Janeway (tie)
4. Chakotay
5. Seven
6. Tom
7. Tuvok
8. Harry
9. Kes

B'Elanna has always been my favorite. Seven, Tom, Tuvok, Harry and Kes have always been in my lower tier, though the more I re-watch, the more I like Tom. But my opinions on the doctor, Neelix, Janeway and Chakotay tend to vary depending on my mood and which part of the series I'm re-watching. I might say any one of them is my second favorite on any given day. And while Janeway has never been my favorite, I think her strength is the key to the overall strength of the show. At least the way Star Trek shows have been written in the past, the Captain/Commanding officer is the center of the show and defines what I think of it--which is why I love the original Star Trek and Voyager, I like Deep Space Nine, and I'm ambivalent about The Next Generation and Enterprise.

Out of the minor recurring characters, I think Naomi is the clear winner, but it's almost unfair to rank them, since she was used and developed more than any of the others.

And I thought that Kelis the Poet would be your favourite character ... :D
Do you like that episode?

Frakes> It's going to be skewed because there are far less voters these days.
You have a point! Even some of the Major Personalities™ of TrekBBS.com, whom could always be relied upon to post and respond ... have vanished, into the haze. And for a very specific one or two, I'm wondering why they left. I suspected pregnancy in on case, then it struck me, how the herd had thinned (or was culled?). But ... what can be done to recall these notable notables? What enticements do you suggest we offer?

That sort of thing has happened on all forum boards since the rise of things like Facebook and Twitter. This board and Gallifrey Base, a Doctor Who board, are still among the most active that I personally know about. All the others have either disappeared or slowed to a crawl. There was a massive Harry Potter board and a rather nice Tolkien board that are no longer with us (although the Tolkien board does have a page on Facebook and a lot of the regulars have migrated there).

Any StarGate boards that are (relatively) active?

Thanks. I might have a look. Not that I know StarGate well enough to contribute much - but at least I like it. There are not too many shows that I like.
But of course, even StarGate SG-1/SG-A don't come anywhere near Star Trek Voyager in my book. It's the one and only show for me ...
I hope you understand ...
BTW, it looks like they also have a Star Trek thread. Do we have a StarGate one on this one here?

Chakotay's my most favourite VOY character and amongst my most favourite in the franchise, as well.
Well, here is the one thing we always agree on, 2takesfrakes. Chakotay is my favorite as well. Who can resist a reformed bad boy, especially if he is good looking and was bad for a higher and justifiable purpose? I find the Angry Warrior who found peace but will fight when his values and those he cares for are in danger very compelling.
Kathryn comes in second, sometimes I find her too much, too angry, too reckless, too stand-offish, etc. But Mulgrew did an absolutely amazing job playing her.
I do like the doctor, his snarky, haughty personally is very amusing to watch. On Voyager I would probably have sabotaged his program on occasion because he would have been unbearable as a colleague.

It's a joy to watch you gush over Chakotay, Katinka! And he's just as you describe him, all the way - "compelling" sums him up very nicely.

I don't understand why some chose Facebook. I mean, it's impossible to have serious discussions there. You post something like this thread and after one day it is drowned by everything else that comes in and simply forgotten.
I like this much better where it's structured.

As for those others who have left, I guess that they have moved on to other interests.
